Ruth Davidson
Just heard that Ruth Davidson had given birth to a boy. The Scottish Conservative leader tweeted on Friday afternoon that she and her partner Jen Wilson named the child Finn Paul Davidson. He weighed 10lb 1.5oz. Not quite sure how I feel about this but wish wee Finn a long and happy life.

Of course, bur absence of family history is not confined to adopted or surrogate children - I have no idea of any health history from either of my parents, or my two older sisters!

"The problem arises when her children are asked if there is a history in the family of heart disease"
i dont really see how that is a problem of any sort of magnitude.
So what if there is, so what if there isnt? if her children had heart disease, how would knowing there is a family history help? If they don't have it, it makes sense to try to avoid it whether there is a family history or not!

Kvalidir----from personal experience I know that what you say isn't always true. In my family for instance-- My nephew had a brief relationship years ago . It didn't last and he didn't know that the girl had a child. She decided not to tell him , got together with a woman friend and they lived together in a lesbian relationship. They had a loving and stable family unit .However when the little boy was about 6 years old he came home from school one day in floods of tears. Turned out that it was Father's Day the following week and teacher decided that the children would make cards. He didn't understand why he didn't have a father to make a card for. Not the teacher's fault. She didn't know. Then the questions started as to why and where was his father etc. ? Then his mother decided to tell him about his dad. Result was that my nephew was then told about his son.He soon got over the shock and the little lad was over the moon to be like all the other kids and have a father in his life.He couldn't wait to tell his friends. He was welcomed into our family with open arms and has a whole new set of relatives. He is now 18 and often says that the best day of his life was when he found out that he had a dad.
That is just my personal experience . I have no doubt there will be lots of other different scenarios .

I think it’s beautiful she and her partner are starting a family!! The fact she’s even able to at 39 is laudable… makes me wonder if she used more than just traditional IVF and sperm donation? After reading this https:/ /donore ggbanku sa.com/ resourc es/pres s-relea ses/10- myths-a bout-pr egnancy -in-you r-40s I’m very curious!! I’m 39 and my eggs weren’t viable for traditional IVF, but every woman is different. Either way, it’s absolutely lovely and wonderful that they’ll be welcoming a wee one soon.
