Andres, regarding how Scotland will survive: If you believe that Scotland is at present being financially propped up by the rest of the UK (i.e. England) then you will naturally assume that an independent Scotland will promptly go bankrupt. Equally, if (irrespective of whether otherwise favourable possibilities/prospects exist) you believe that Scots are inherently incompetent, then you will expect an independent Scotland to fail economically sooner or later.
On the other hand, if you believe Scotland could successfully copy what countries of a similar size or smaller achieve, i.e. socio-economic prosperity/well-being well beyond what Scotland currently has, then you will also notice that those countries are not richer than Scotland in natural or human resources.
There is every reason to hope that an independent Scotland will do better than as the present part of the UK. That seems to be what 49% of Scots now think, according to a YouGov poll just published. But it does depend on an independent Scotland rapidly ditching UK systems and practices and switching to what works for others.
