Civil Unrest Anyone?
Who'd like to join those like me in protest against Johnson's undemocratic behaviour?

The thing everyone on both sides seems to be losing sight of in the wild clamour to have their own way is that each and every person has a right, and in fact a duty, to do what they consider right for the country, and that includes Remainers. I still hold that leaving the EU will be catastrophic economically , socially and will lead to unprecendent ed hardship for...

//Funny how after three years Remainers have suddenly discovered the word 'democracy'//
Weren't the born-again "democrats" recently planning a device to create a "Government of National Unity" to replace the "unelected" new PM Boris Johnson?
Was the "national unity" bit an attempt to reverse the result of the 2016 referendum when "people" were out-voted because non-people had been carelessly allowed the franchise?

"Deal" wasn't explicitly mentioned in the question posed in the referendum question which was Leave or Stay. Except, of course, you can see an E, an A, and an L. (David Brent stuff: there's no "I" in team, but if you look hard enough I think you'll find there's a ME.)
Some of the notes. Not necessarily in the right order though.

//... I'm going to reread Fraser's 23:13 post again. I'm on my third attempt and I still can't finish it straight faced.//
I wonder if Mozzy can grasp basic economic principles and interests. Free trade for one. Protecting local producers from foreign competition another.
Why do Mozzys and Mozzy clones think that the prosperity of the world's fifth largest economy and a founder of global trade (conducted under various systems including monopoly, royal charter, but also free trade) depends on belonging to a protectionist institution whose main agendum is specifically political, i.e a federal European state?

Democracy anywhere relates to the people. If a system uses representatives then those representatives are obliged to represent the public view. If they chose not to then they no longer represent democracy and can not be excused by claiming democracy only applies to parliament. It only does so when parliament is genuinely representing the people's view, not deciding they know better and that the democratic people's view is irrelevant.
In the name of God, go!
There needs to be a night of the long knives once this is over. Parties must be purged of all who have tried to prevent the people's Brexit in order to regain confidence in government. Furthermore the whole system needs an overhaul to ensure elites don't have any ability to betray the trust of the nation again by finding loopholes in procedure etc..

Oliver Cromwell, wow, now there's a role model if ever I saw one.
Not a very 'impressive' PM is he really Jack when you think about it, he's so terrified of parliament that he's had to suspend it in an attempt to get his way ( which I hasten to add, he hasn't yet). Buffoon, a devious buffoon but still a buffoon and an embarrassment to this country in the civilised world

I don't think he is anywhere near as much of a buffoon as peopl like to think, cal. Which is why so many are scared. He is intelligent and only doing what has, sadly, proved to be necessary. No, he hasn't got there yet. But I think the whole country will lose confidence if he doesn't. Even those who disagree.
More than a million remoaners determined to waste parliamentary time by discussing how parliament can legitimately be suspended and is well overdue for a suspension. Because they presumably wanted more shenanigans https:/ /www.bb c.co.uk /news/u k-polit ics-495 04526
A buffoon is a 'ridiculous yet amusing person'- OED. It's the persona that Johnson relies upon, the public perception of him is one of being a clanging yet harmless idiot ( which I'll agree he is not) and he appeals to the cult of populist clatrap that seem to have taken hold of the world- people feel they know him, he's something they recognise much like Farage etc- but the Trumps, Farages and Johnsons of this world hardly garner much international respect and we are a laughing stock.
The objections to the EU, CalicoGirl, by some Brexiteers are not specifically economic. They are that Brussels has a political agendum which intends to replace sovereign parliaments with a centralised bureaucracy over which member states and their constituencies have no control.
You have only to look at the the new EU Commission President to understand that, innit?
