t’s hilarious, all these school kids preaching to us oldies that we messing up the planet! Back in the 60’s and 70’s not a plastic bottle to be seen it was all glass that were reused, pop bottles taken back to the shop. No plastic bags, loose food was brown paper bags, all sweets were bought in 1/4lb put in a paper bag. Mothers used shopping trolleys to carry...

There are a few versions, the point being that the young didn't kick off the plastic revolution at all.

Re Greta, I do feel she is now becoming exhausted by all this campaigning and as there are now so many millions on board she should be able to take life more calmly.

....as are the emissions of the oceans, volcanoes, forest fires, cows jam tarting.....
////that it's actually school children's fault the climate is having issues.////

err No, , it isn't ours either and we are being blamed by said school children Spath,
can you answer 11-26, who are the middle generation and why do you think they are at fault?
You can't blame children for the environment they're born into. You can only blame their parents' and grandparents' (and so on) generations for that. For example, the ones who grew up with returnable pops bottles, but decided as adults that it would be better to buy "disposable" plastic ones instead. There are plenty of adults that say this, but they come with a sense of complicity because they were part of the generations that created the problem. When a child points it out, it's more powerful.
...think carefully Spath (as Theland would say).
Ellipsis, sadly there was no choice of using plastic then or now
//When a child points it out, it's more powerful.//

Not when it's probably read from mummy's script who, just by coincidence, has just published a book on Climate change.
Cynical ? moi?
// I bet she uses a mobile phone //

A daily full charge of a mobile phone (not everyone recharges daily) would use 2 KW over a year. About 20p worth of electricity.
By comparison, a modern TV uses £30 worth of energy a year.
Many young people no longer watch TV and they use their devices instead. The energy savings must be enormous.
^ not forgetting those carbon copies ;-)
"it isn't ours either and we are being blamed by said school children Spath"

I think you're taking it a bit personally.

It is a generations fault. Ignorance is all it is.
Sigh. So much to do and say
Here's another one for Greta to get her teeth into. At least she used wind power to reach the big apple. The EU hypocrites have a different use for wind.

Actually that' it isn't it. Just because it;s said "Older generations" are to blame.. doesn't mean people are saying you exactly. It's the older generations that own corporations and made these desissions but they're being defended by the older generations that don't want to be blamed.
Spath I take nothing personally on AB ( anymore) but you used the term ' middle generation' and I am asking you who they are and why but you have yet to answer
///it isn't ours either //// is meant colloqually not personally
> Not when it's probably read from mummy's script who, just by coincidence, has just published a book on Climate change. Cynical ? moi?

Cynical, yep. Why not play the ball, rather than the man (or 16 year old girl in this case)?
"you used the term ' middle generation' and I am asking you who they are and why"

Not those ages 10-30 and not those aged 70+
Bobbisox you said - "we are being blamed"

Who has blamed you personally?
I was around when milk and juice came in glass bottles, when Amazon was a big river instead of large boxes with very small content,and everything else associated with climate change, being over 70
10-30 and over 70, would that be you? ( not personally of course)
"I was around when milk and juice came in glass bottles, when Amazon was a big river instead of large boxes with very small content,and everything else associated with climate change"

Yeah exactly so you saw the change that was coming around that was slowly becoming more unsustainable and did nothing about it. In fact, you supported it by consuming.

You did this out of ignorance, which is fine. You're not to blame but it's a reason we're where we are now.
let's not hover around one sentence, colloquially speaking , the older generation are being blamed for messing up the planet , by kids who go on strike and by cyclists that block bridges ( like the Tyne Bridge ) forcing even more emissions form the back log of traffic
