t’s hilarious, all these school kids preaching to us oldies that we messing up the planet! Back in the 60’s and 70’s not a plastic bottle to be seen it was all glass that were reused, pop bottles taken back to the shop. No plastic bags, loose food was brown paper bags, all sweets were bought in 1/4lb put in a paper bag. Mothers used shopping trolleys to carry...

Not sure why you think it is her responsibility?
BitCoin is a threat to Governments, Banks, and Accountancy firms like PwC quoted in this article. Not surprising then to see the anti-BitCoin propaganda notching up. The current Financial Establishment must be worried.
Bit dubious about the energy calculator too. It assumes all the energy the mines consumes are from dirty fossil fuel sources. If I had a warehouse mining BitCoin and my electricity bill was the size of a Canton of Switzerland, I would cover the roof with Solar Panels and put up some wind turbines.

She has taken responsibility for forcing global leaders to sort their nations out. Now her own nation seems to need a telling off.
I see where TTT is coming from.
Gretas recent speech made me rather uncomfortable. Watching such a young girl talk about something with such disgust almost at the brink of tears, with odd emphases in odd places...
She's 16 i don't get why she's involved with all this. Loads of kid have been protesting what has made her so special to become such a face for this movement?

I'd have thought that's quiet obvious gromit. Bit coin mining is using vast amounts of electricity both in the mining itself and the mining infrastructure. A fair proportion of the electricity will come from fossil fuels. I'd have though that this is just the sort of thing that climate activist would be looking at.

No plastic bags, loose food was brown paper bags, all sweets were bought in 1/4lb put in a paper bag. Mothers used shopping trolleys to carry heavy stuff or used a linen bag. You walked to school from 5yo to 16yo not jumping into mummy’s 4+4. No McDonald’s or Burger King plastic toys, no polystyrene food boxes for you to litter the streets with, we had used newspapers to wrap our hot food in. Our milk was delivered at 5 am 6 days a week by a milkman who drove an electric vehicle! Holidays were in a caravan in Britain not an aeroplane to far off destinations. So I think these youngsters need to take a look in a recycled mirror and think
was it my wasteful generation who are messing up the planet

The more I think of it, the comparison is stupid.
Hundreds of thousands of computers world wide compared to a small country’s energy consumption is not a realistic measure.
The World’s Financial System is itself built up of large networks of computers. My guess is that is 100 times bigger (and uses 100 Switzerland’s worth of energy).
If you calculated the energy use worldwide, of the number of cups of coffee made in day, it would be much larger that bit-mining in a year.
