Looks Like Sainsburys Are Not Selling Fireworks This Year

No link as they seem to want to keep it low profile but it looks like Sainsburys have taken the decision not to sell fireworks this year. If you or someone you know are affected by the constant barrage of noise, mess and smoke that happens at this season (and when did Firework Night become Firework season?) then you might like to comment on their facebook page or website? Hopefully another step in the right direction.

The only thing i can imagine the authorities doing is reducing it from being able to buy up to cat 3 to being able to buy category 2 fireworks.

Much as I would love to say something to spath, I realise it would be a complete waste of time so I won't waste my time and energy. This is just to let anyone know who might be interested in contacting Sainsburys. I wrote them an email to congratulate them for taking this stance, but unfortunately, it has come back as having the wrong email address. Fireworks are very 'Out' now ! Few people bother with them !
When I was a 'lad' firework night was almost as important as Christmas ! Now you hardly even hear a single one !
The expense is the main reason !

Eddie, it is less than 3 years since I lived on the edge of a City. They were all over the place! This time of year and Christmas and New Year were awful. It was a bit random at other times. I cannot believe things have changed so much in 3 years.

"Fireworks are very Eout" now"?? They're going off on the next street (or the one after - hard to tell) as i type this. Someone has money to literally burn as they are those multiple repeater thingummyjiggerbangs. If my poor little dog could get under the carpet, i'm sure he would. :-/

**Eddie Fireworks are very 'Out' now!**You wouldn't be saying that if you lived where I live.It's not only weeks before Nov 5th and weeks after, it's also not just New Years Eve It's every time someone in the district has a birthday or gets married, or a baby is born. Everything that is a cause to celebrate is a reason for them to get the fireworks out.

By virtue of living in the sticks, we hear no fireworks thank goodness. I think fireworks should only be sold to licenced events organisers who give at least three month notice to councils and obtain permission, and a list of displays should be put in the press by the councils at least two weeks before the event.

I personally do not see the point in thanking Sainsbury's, rather we should be emailing the other supermarkets who are STILL selling them and asking them why !

NellieMay Manchester City Council have put on their website where the organised displays are to take place so perhaps other councils do that as well
