A department of four were going to save the US and the world from Coronavirus.... WOW. Just WOW
And all but one of the four are still in the National Security department.
So does that mean when you move departments you can no longer access the information in your head and advise on your area of expertise? That must be really difficult to do. Because the stuff in my head just pops in there when a subject I have knowledge of is in discussion.... Just sayin.

It seems to me that while people take in Trump's history of denial of the threat that corona presents, his actions and inactions which left the USA deliberately at a disadvantage in dealing with a rising problem with infections within the USA, there are also those who will still talk down the facts relating to all of that. The latter group makes as little as possible of recorded events, quotes, etc., suggesting also that having an organised unit on standby to deal with things if and when, albeit not an army of people but with the infrastructure in place to react at once and grow as the task grows (the approach adopted by other countries), is no better than none with the unit disbanded.
With no national health service, only a collection of largely uncoordinated units scattered throughout the country, compared with China, South Korea and Europe, the USA was already potentially the least capable of dealing with a pandemic. Belatedly the USA has now "seen the light" it seems and their government is scrambling to catch up in reverse mode to that conspicuously presented as late as a week ago - they still have no real idea of how many are infected, no established ways to monitor and trace the progress of the crisis or anywhere near enough testing facilities.
Meanwhile there are intriguing reports like this one around (not easily dismissed as improbable, given past realities):
