... would like to find some excuse for this second breach of lockdown - after he was well and back at work - and when (presumably) the 'childcare' emergency was no longer valid reason?

Not quite the genius we've all been led to believe then.
Mr Cummings: “This Mothering Sunday,” he said, “the single best present we can give – we who owe our mothers so much – is to spare them the risk of catching a dangerous disease. The sad news is that that means staying away. This time the best thing is to ring her, video-call her or Skype her – but avoid any unnecessary physical contact or proximity.”
Hypocrite!

You often find with the terminally self-obsessed, they often tend to tell everyone to do one thing, while they go and do another.

Mr Cummings' reaction to this debacle speaks volumes about the absence of respect he feels for the electorate, his family, and the government who are left trying to cover for him while he stays out of sight.

Watching Grant Schapps on the briefing tonight was a veritable exercise in wondering what the phrase ' a drowning man clutching at straws … ' actually looks like on television.

I'd pay big money to be within earshot the next time those two are within speaking distance.
is this deja vu all over again?

have we not had this before? two or three times
( looks anxiously around for Naomi - who has forbidden numbaz anywhere near)
had this SOME times before ?
What an absolutely despicable crew these tories are - Cummings' actions supported/excused by Gove, Raab etc while Boris hides somewhere. Who can defend any of them with a clear conscience?
Thanks, Jno....who said he was the gift that kept on giving........you, Andy?

PP, //looks anxiously around for Naomi - who has forbidden numbaz anywhere near//

Leave me out of your manic ramblings.

No PP - we haven't had this before - it's a new revelation of Cummings breaking the rules after his recovery and whilst no longer having the childcare 'get out of jail free' card to play.

I was hoping that your nemesis might wish to comment on his perfidious dissembling - but so far no luck ...
I heard a hard of thinking idiot saying earlier “what if he’d had an accident, he’d’ve taken up our angel’s time” or words to that effect.

I could be run over crossing the road tomorrow morning when I walk I walk my dog.

I fail to see the difference.
only alleged comments :

maybe he was hoping for a belated mother's day gift?

He's got to go, if Bojo's government ever had any credibility, then it's gone now unless Cummings goes.
Do cop on, Peter...this is a new episode. The one the government has yet to excuse. I look forward to Gove's eyebrows and mouth getting higher and prissier.... :-)

Regulars on the AB will be well aware of your willingness to play Devil's Advocate on almost any thread on almost any subject.

If there is a prevailing position, you will take the opposite one, as you are doing here.

But you know that there are some positions that are genuinely worth fighting for, and some, like this one, where your contrary stance is simply getting annoying.

Personally, I'd move on to something with more substance, this one is a slam dunk, and even your championing of him is not going to redeem Mr Cummings in the eyes of anyone with a modicum of objectivity.
What an absolute p****

If you're talking about me I'm very pleased you noticed. Thank you.

As for commenting, I've just arrived so your eagerness is a bit premature ..... a bit of a scanty report from the Daily Mirror .... but if he broke the rules for no good reason - smacked legs - or the equivalent.
Only a public hanging might silence the mobs.

So, don’t do it again, you naughty boy, while you preach to the rest of us.

Don't be ridiculous Theland.

It doesn't have to be public.
