Girls At Risk Of Child Marriage …
…. as half of local authorities fail to keep records

So while half the country is puffing hysterically over a man driving a couple of hundred miles, another effect of lockdown is ignored. Still, at least we can pat ourselves on the back for getting our priorities right.

It's obviously a terrible problem, and I only hope that child services can intervene in some way.
Tora: //these must be convenient times for TROP barbarians.//
I often get confused with your constant use of abbreviations Tora, and the expectation that everyone immediately knows what they mean. I know TROB is "the right-on brigade". If you're suggesting leftist support for child marriage, you're very mistaken, unless TROP means something different?

Mozz - // Ah, so meaning Muslim without using the actual word then? Righto. I'm sure you can understand my confusion. //
Absolutely.
I guess it's just quicker that typing the words 'extremist' 'terrorist' 'Islamist', 'murderer', 'abuser' etc. etc., but of course, it does mean roping in all the innocent peaceful Muslims all round the world.
Still, what's stereotyping one of the largest faiths on the planet when you can save a few seconds at your keyboard, that's what I say!

jesus this thread is one of the crazier ones - and I havent even started yet. Is there a duty to keep a register and what would it be for?
Far be it for me to hinder people stuffing their nose in other peoples business - this comes up every now and then

I think it eventually becomes law in 1878 - sages femmes and other qualified mature women are empowered to enter convents ( Roman Catholique of course) and ask postulants if they were forced - to be postulants of course
but anyway boys and girls - there IS a forced marriage unit
and here is its report

and all I can say is - - - it is a better read than some of the rather fevered or shall I say forced posts on this thread
have fun
anyway

I'm not convinced that lockdown has anything to do with this.
Fact is SS is v underfunded in every LA. Those most at risk are persistently let down.
And how do you identify a child at risk of a forced marriage? If she's from a particular race or religion?
I suppose on the one hand the child has limited external contact to report a forced marriage; On the other they are less likely to be whisked off abroad right now.
I've had dealings with the Forced Marriage Unit. They are very very good.
