…. as half of local authorities fail to keep records

So while half the country is puffing hysterically over a man driving a couple of hundred miles, another effect of lockdown is ignored. Still, at least we can pat ourselves on the back for getting our priorities right.

I'm not so sure Jan. I bet the opportunity to marry into a British family and to relocate (the bride/groom, not the whole family) to the UK is a huge decider in a lot of arranged marriages.

None of which is illegal. Opportunist yes, but not illegal.
Sorry, British-based family.
Mozz - I took issue with the assertion that these families 'shell out British passports'. They do not.
Yeah, okay. I get that. I guess it was badly worded.
Chinajan, Brits can marry any foreigner & bring them to UK & apply for a passport for their spouse. In time parents of spouse can be claimed to live here, then parents claim other children to join the family, apply for passports & acquire bells & whistles of indiginous citizens.

Only difference is its not dowry/bought system as with India & Pakistan. If youre insulted by these revalations, too bad! Am more insulted at UK's goodwill being taken advantage of.
I would not expand on my earlier comments folks, unfortunately, but believe me, you genuinely don't know. I'm sorry I can't say any more than that.

Why not 10CS? Are you a member of the Secret Service?

Shhhh ... don't answer that.
No, Naomi. It wouldn't be appropriate for me to say, unfortunately. Not even on this most important and informative website with all it's self-important contributors.
Bit harsh!!!
:o)
Question Author
10CS, Haha! So what you think we ‘genuinely don’t know’ you refuse to expand upon - and therefore we will never know, so pointless you posting really.. unless of course your enigmatic offerings made you feel important. :o)
// No, Naomi. It wouldn't be appropriate for me to say, unfortunately.//

even tho Clarion St knows that the principle of free speech and the right to say what you want on this site is jealously guarded by ALL who post.

I dont see that a register in this case can work
Question Author
PP, //the right to say what you want on this site //

That's a fallacy.
There does appear to be an exception to that Naomi but I couldn't possibly say who.
Question Author
Haaaaaaaaa! Indeed LB.
naomi - // PP, //the right to say what you want on this site //

That's a fallacy. //

Would you care to explain your thinking behind that observation?
ladybirder - // There does appear to be an exception to that Naomi but I couldn't possibly say who. //

That would be tricky - different people dislike different other people so if you asked for an 'exception', you'd get a list of names, not just one.
I'd like to know, clarion, particularly being a "frontline" worker myself. Do you know something helpful?
Question Author
AH, //Would you care to explain your thinking behind that observation? //

Nothing to do with my thinking.
Ok, if you want to be pedantic, would you like to expand on whatever makes you think/feel/know that?
