…. as half of local authorities fail to keep records

So while half the country is puffing hysterically over a man driving a couple of hundred miles, another effect of lockdown is ignored. Still, at least we can pat ourselves on the back for getting our priorities right.

//Apart from one or two here the rest appear to be more concerned with defending the religion as a whole than acknowledging its faults//

I don't see anybody refusing to acknowledge the issues within the religion (or any other for thay matter). A refusal to condemn all Muslims is not a support of the disgusting acts of a minority.
Is it only Muslims that practice this?
//Is it only Muslims that practice this?//

Far from it Ummmm, but it is certainly more prevalent in Muslim and Hindu cultures than it is others.
Having read all the replies, and living in Rochdale, I can tell you all, that you think you know things, when in fact, you only know what you read in the media, which must be true mustn't it? With the utmost respect to all on here, you know nothing.
tell us then 10cs, what the situation is like, i have a fair idea but its always best if someone has first hand experience.
Yes, do tell us, 10cc. I'm genuinely interested.
Try living in Malaysia!
no thanks boaty,
A beautiful country Emmie. I love it.
does it go in for child marriages though...
There are many effects of 'lockdown' being ignored, they simply dont fit the mantra nor do are they click bait for the advertisers.

Child marriage is a big problem just as is child sex grooming but until we can get past this rediculous notion that religion cannot be touched (it was the same for the rock cakes) then we will get nowhere.

First we need to drain the liberal elite swamp and restore the will of the majority. DC is doing this which is why he is hated by the metropolitan elite and this 'pushing of rules' is being whipped up.

Mozz, //I don't see anybody refusing to acknowledge the issues within the religion (or any other for thay matter). //

This is as far as you’ve gone in addressing the problem - which is further than most.

//It's obviously a terrible problem, and I only hope that child services can intervene in some way.//

There seems to be some confusion here between forced marriage which occurs predominately within the Islamic culture, and arranged marriage, ie marriage with the consent of both parties and accepted across several cultures.
// forced marriage which occurs predominately within the Islamic culture //

The report on which your GuarDian link is based is from the campaign group ‘Iranian and Kurdish Women's Rights Organisation’ so it is obviously concerned with the problem within some muslim communities. But forced marriage is also a problem within Orthodox Jewish communities too.

“Rabbi Avi Schnall: It’s a cultural thing, mostly in the Sephardic community, culturally they tend to get married younger. It’s not a Biblical obligation — most of our girls don’t get married under 18 — it’s a cultural thing. It’s part of their heritage.”

In Canada, 16 girls from one jewish group forced into marriage.

Have a read, specifically at the section subtitled "Religion". I know Wiki isn't the most reliable source (then again, some here think Breitbart and the Daily Mail are factual truthtellers), but it does show that it's far from solely a Muslim issue.

I'm unsure exactly what more you expect from a random voice on an internet forum. Nobody here is condoning child marriage.

Gromit/mozz, I said predominately - and it is predominately a feature of Islamic culture. There is no doubt whatsoever about that. Offering other examples goes no way whatsoever to addressing the problem. To put it simply, how do we change the attitude that says this is acceptable or even essential?
It's a well known fact that certain ABers when pressed use the line 'well it goes without saying' ...so they don't say it.

The ones that do say it are muslamaphobic or summat.

Really Roy?
// It goes without saying’// because it’s fact, and it’s true
You mean how do we change the attitude within the Islamic culture?

I'm not sure, I'm no expert in that field, but I'm pretty sure tarring all Muslims with the same brush will do nothing but increase the hostility between the different cultures, and push more towards radicalisation. It's far from a black and white situation, but if this is going on on British soil, action must be taken, regardless of religion.
