I'm not sure it'll help students in the long run to have inflated grades in the long run- those going to university will either succeed or fail based on their suitability for the course and their effort and abilities, and those who didn't deserve the grade will be found out.
For GCSE students going to sixth form the same principle applies.
It's a sort of pyrric victory for the 'downgraded' students but may upset those who weren't downgraded as weaker students will now have the same grade as them.
I think it's also highlighted the problem of trying to predict grades and maybe for the future grades will have to be predicted as a range- say B/C

And it is not just the advanced schooling FF. Employers will take this years certificates with a pinch of salt. Be fine for those that go on and get a degree but those stopping at A level or dropping out/failing a degree will have a piece of paper that is valueless.

Students who have been overgraded will go to university, fail or drop out because the courses are beyond them, and end up with debt and no degree.
Or they will go out into the wide world and find an economy in recession and employers not willing to believe their grades.
Probably the best they can hope for is that they pass their degree and hit the job market in three or four years, saddled with debt and newly minted Third in hand ...

"Who's left in the Tory Government, at the rate ymb wants them gone?!"
There are 354 Tory MP's. One would hope that in that number there must be some who at least have some competence.
Do you not agree with me then jim? Although I am a Tory I am quite happy to point out if I see a fault in the Party. How can it get better if people like me dont (And I dont just write it here either).

Do you think reversing the decision is going to make them vote the other way? It's a monumental cock-up.
It bothers me that our Government is simply struggling to lead. It developed a system, or had a system developed, that was certain to be attacked once it threw up those anomalies. Did nobody raise concerns? Or, if they did, why were they ignored? It beggars belief, in particular, that the English system has followed literally the same trajectory as in the Scottish system, despite having the advantage of knowing how things went down north of the border.
