If the ministerial code is broken how serious should the consequences be in this case?

https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-politics-55010929

The code says "harassing, bullying or other inappropriate or discriminating behaviour" will not be tolerated.

It adds that ministers are "personally responsible" for how they act - and that they can stay in office "for so long as they retain the confidence of the prime minister".

Bit of a storm in a teacup, some civil servants were shouted at.
Instead of power struggles and in -fighting which includes the opposition, they should be all singing from the same hymn sheet and tackling this pandemic head on and those that step out of line should go with immediate effect ( in an ideal world) but we don't live in one of those
He should use it as an excuse to dismiss someone whom he never should have appointed to the role in the first place.

But probably won’t.
Although rumour has it Sajid Javid is about to brought back in from the cold ...
Firstly its IF, so lets have no trial by media until we know the real facts.

I suspect Danny has it correct. Someone does need to stand up to civil servants that want to run their own agenda rather than the Government of the day's agenda.

Perlease, she probably bowlocked a few, snowflake anti British lefty civil servants. Bullying my April, these people need a rocket up their Aprils.
I'd rather have ministers getting on with it than tiptoeing about afraid of their own shadow, go Priti!
Some need more than a rocket TTT. The old tin-tack would be better.
The PM has a record of defending or keeping quiet about the competence, integrity and behaviour of people he appointed.
I can’t see that changing now.

"Normally if a minister breaches the code they are expected to resign. But a number of Tory MPs have rallied round Ms Patel, describing her as a determined person doing a tough job."

Er,doesnt that describe any MP? Intentional or not, bullying is a serious matter in any workplace.

Yet again, the high standards we rightly expect from politicians is called into question.

The public deserves far better.

TTT - and if it was a Labour minister accused of the same thing?
We deserve a better Home Secretary. We deserve a better cabinet. There are plenty of good people who could come in.
I just cannot see Johnson taking the tough decision needed about her.
Priti Patel told them their future, and the didn’t like it.
Accountability, responsibility, making an effort, etc.
They have become far too complacent and indifferent to the consequences of their actions or lack of.
Good for her. Way better than May ever was. Keep her in the job.
//The public deserves far better. //

And they're going to get that from ... whom?
"TTT - and if it was a Labour minister accused of the same thing?"

Surely that would depend on the circumstance, for instance I recall many 'right wingers' being right behind 2Jags when he twatted that egg throwing idiot.
09:14 well assuming it's not their standard anti Semitic bile, same answer.
YMB: 09:17 yep, old Thumper went up in a lot of people estimations there.
//the investigation had found evidence of bullying, even if it had not been intentional.//

What a load of nonsense. In the main I agree with David Small, except I don’t think they
are complacent or indifferent. I think they’re troublemakers making every effort to rock the boat.

YMB - I did say 'if it was the same thing'

Naomi, I just wonder with all the cabinet reshuffles down the years whether too many people are ill suited to their roles (but thats another question!)
"Perlease, she probably bowlocked a few, snowflake anti British lefty civil servants. Bullying my April, these people need a rocket up their Aprils."

If her actions were justified, why has the PM not made a decision before to-day?
david small has probably nailed it. BA right there
