If the ministerial code is broken how serious should the consequences be in this case?

https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-politics-55010929

The code says "harassing, bullying or other inappropriate or discriminating behaviour" will not be tolerated.

It adds that ministers are "personally responsible" for how they act - and that they can stay in office "for so long as they retain the confidence of the prime minister".

ich //Both she and the PM are effectively calling Sir Alex A’s judgment wrong//
Part of the judgement was that her 'bullying'was unintentional.
The judgment was that she failed to meet the standards required of a minister.
I’ve no idea whether that is fair or not (tho I can see plain evidence of that in matters unrelated to the inquiry ;-) )
Is shouting and swearing at staff acceptable?
Not on AB.
The findings say that instances of behaviour reported to the Cabinet Office do meet the Code's definition of bullying.
In answer to the. OP. According to the 1 o'clock news Boris has said the matter is closed.
He said the same about Dominic Cummings but that ended with Cummings having to give a press conference.
This matter is far from closed. Today’s resignation shows that
Okay so boris and Matt have said she did nothing wrong I don’t know I was not there .if this lady resigns will these gentlemen resign too as they would have shown such bad judgement .Ive said it afore I’ve said in Brighton
Why do you keep putting that at the end of your posts? Sorry if I’m the millionth person to ask
"Yes, I admit I was shouting and swearing at my Civil Servants, but I didn't think that would upset them and I didn't realise it was bullying."

Is that really the best we can do for a Home Secretary? Or does she have something on the PM ...

Who wud want a career in politics today? Depressin stuff...

(A fella told me that I shud read Chris Mullins?!)
Johnson considers the matter closed, but it's not impossible that the political pressure will mount and force it to reopen. In particular, there is the Ruttnam case for constructive dismissal, that will almost certainly make many of the details of these allegations public. I think that's not due for some months now, so clearly, for the time being, Patel is safe. But it leaves a nasty taste in the mouth.

I don't think there was ever a golden age for "standards", in the sense that there's nothing new about Patel's behaviour. But what does seem to be increasingly true is that even *trying* to uphold such standards is becoming less and less common. Patel should have been sacked -- at the very least, she should have apologised for what she did, not for how it was perceived.
well, as long as everyone's equally happy when Bercow is pardoned.
