Sarah Everard Vigil
I find it ironic that all those critisising the police trying to disperse thes women are all too ready to support the police in this situation when other groups get together for any other reason.

There have been instances when they don’t themselves know the rules and wrongfully detain and fine innocent people.
There have been instances where the police have purposely assumed powers that aren’t there.
There has been little common sense or leadership shown.
For the past year numerous cases have arisen of insensitive policing, which break the bond of policing by consensus.
Last Sunday, a protest by nurses about their measly pay increase saw their leader arrested and given a £10,000 fine. Utterly stupid.
Arresting women at a vigil concerning a woman murdered by a policeman, is just beyond the pale. Some discretion should be shown.
I fear the police have badly let themselves down this past year and are losing the support of the public.

It would but was never going to be enough for some. Maybe there should be an allowance in the covid rules on socially distanced approved demos with limits of say 30. Could of had them in sevral places. All agreed with police or local council.
Am convinced tho there would still have been at least one big illegal gathering from those who want to hijack with there own agenda but theyd of got less sympathy from police breaking it up

It didn't look good. Heavy handed. But one can not allow one group to flaunt the rules or there won't be control over any group. As long as the police can show this would be the response to any protest, or crowd, in the current situation then they'll have covered themselves. That stated, my views on the official reaction to a virus are probably well known. The whole thing is over the top and disjointed.
Sunk, there were 28 arrests made outside Ibrox. Just saying.
While there were no doubt many whose sole intent was a peaceful vigil, there were also many whose sole intent was to demonstrate. They were told they could not do it. They did it. They pay the penalty. And, as has already been said, the family of Sarah Everard will not wish to be associated with what took place.
