Naomi - // What they regard as truth, you don’t - and vice versa. That’s why they’re creating havoc over a drawing - and you’re not. //
The point I believe pixie is making, and it cannot be argued with, because it is an absolute, is the concept of truth.
It's a pointless woke-ism to talk about 'his truth' or 'their truth' because that is not what they are taking about at all.
There is - the truth.
It's an absolute, a matter of facts, it cannot be argued with.
It can be disagreed with, and it can be interpreted in different ways to suit different people, but to call that 'their truth' is nonsense, it is not the truth, it is an interpretation of the truth, which is something entirely different.
To return to all the angst and hysteria, either from the reaction by some Muslims, or the reaction on here to that reaction, we have to remember a vital point -
We have no idea what the context and content of the lesson was - how the images were presented, or discussed, or meanings offered or stated by either the class or the pupils, and without that vital information, we are not able to make a reasoned response to the situation.
The school obviously know far more than we do, they will investigate, I believe fairly, and not simply in the interests of placating the loudest voices - and we will need to see what comes out of this when that enquiry is concluded.
What we must hope will come out, is the truth, not what people would like the truth to be to suit personal agendas and attitudes - either at the school, or on here.
