i hope that you have got your polling cards at the ready, unless like me you voted by
post. Big day for all concerned especially up in Hartlepool, where the seat is up for grabs.
apologies for sounding like i know it all. But yes it did come as something of a surprise. We can now stop beating ourselves up in London with BA ME, because that's now defunct.
Using that logic, the votes for other candidates should be reflected by racial preferences.
Why are you bringing race into it?? If they are good enough and their policies reflect that what difference does skin colour make or race?? I do not understand.
because people sometimes seem to vote for a candidate that looks like them, Khan has a large following in London, where we have a large Asian population, same for Shaun Bailey, he is another who will appeal to the black population in London. Lutfer Rahman notorious rat that he was won the Tower Hamlets ward because of the largely Asian population there, as in a landslide. He got kicked out for vote rigging, but i think he's still around.
Not at all, emmie. It’s something I’ve been aware of for a very long time. I just omitted to say it - and for the sake of clarity it should have been said, so thank you.
Joe, //If they are good enough and their policies reflect that what difference does skin colour make or race?? //
It makes a difference to some. People are basically tribal - a bit like football supporters. When Khan was elected there were people as far away as Pakistan celebrating - and it wasn’t because he represented Labour
No Khan represents the Asian population in London, more likely Muslims who feel akin to his background. He is so fond of telling everyone he is a Muslim, you cant help but feel thats why some vote.
The whole post seems racial to me, if you don't think the candidate is suitable then vote against him, the fact that the area is populated or not populated by whats being indicated on here as a majority ethnicity seems to be a problem, surely that comes down to the candidate elections, btw the London borough is 45% are British/White, don't get the argument here!!
why, if you read through, its not intended that way at all. its a reminder for people to go out there and stick their cross again their favourite candidate. If people do so because they like the look of the face, then what can you do about that. One should vote on policies, party lines too.
Joe, there is no argument. If ethnicity is a factor in an election - and in London I believe it is - there's no reason that shouldn't be discussed. If you see 'racism' in that I can only say, like the argument you mentioned, you're imagining it.
there is no such thing as the London Borough, its made of of many boroughs, i live in one, so do friends who reside round the corner. My mates will likely plump for Labour because that is that they usually do. They don't like the Tories at all. so likelyhood Khan will get their vote.
