She keeps attacking one of the worlds leading climate change responders, yet she ignores the big boys, China, USA, India etc! UK is responsible for 1% of the emissions, we cannot make any difference yet we do put in a massive effort. Go and visit China Greta, open your eyes love.

mozz: "Who's accomplished more in her 18 years than you have in your 70-odd. " - obviously some strange meaning of "accomplished" that I had not been previously aware of. What has she "accomplished"? - as far as I can see she's managed to alienate most of the people who can actually help her cause. I'd say that's the opposite of "accomplished".
Oops, thought Greta would be attending but apparently not: Sozz
Greta Thunberg has told the BBC she does not plan to attend the UN climate conference due to be held in Glasgow this November.
The 18-year-old Swedish climate campaigner is concerned about the impact of the coronavirus pandemic on attendance at COP26.
She believes the summit should be postponed.
She says the UK government, which is hosting the summit, should wait until global vaccination rates have risen.
The summit will bring together world leaders with the aim of agreeing a plan to tackle climate change.

Its interesting that she is accused of having no life experience, in what respect?? It could be that she is having a different experience to what other /past adults have had, in that she is not just thinking of herself, and trying to find an answer to the mess that past and present adults have been making of the planet.
It would be interesting if anyone on AB can claim to be a global explorer like her, other than 2 weeks in a holiday hotel/ garden, and may be allocated 100 yards of private beach, then straight back on the plane home. Then sit at home complaining that the weather is to cold or to hot for this time of year, why did this flood, never flooded before, so on and so on.
For the ones that just want to put the whole situation on China, because that seems to make them feel better, just remember you support their output, with the rubbish you buy week in week out, you keep buying it, they will keep making it.

//…If you are going to argue to do nothing about climate change, then do so. But don’t present blatant lies as facts.//
And it would be better if you didn’t cherry-pick them either. China is opening coal fired power stations at the rate of about one a week. The fuel needed for the plants it has in the planning stage exceeds the entire coal consumption of the USA. Last year it added 38Gw of coal fired power to its grid. That is more than three times the amount added by the rest of the world combined. Coal accounts for almost 60% of China’s generating capacity. Whatever China says it is doing to reduce its emissions, it cannot stand up to much scrutiny when these figures are evident.
// Climate change action tracker lists our response as ‘insufficient’.//
Of course it does. Our response will always be “insufficient” according to such studies. Especially when countries are graded “Critically Insufficient”, “Highly Insufficient” and “[presumably merely] Insufficient”. Much of the world (including most of Africa and the USA) is not graded at all. I note that the two top nations in that table are those highly developed and industrialised nations, Morocco and The Gambia.
//She added the UK is "very good at creative carbon accounting"//
And in that she is perfectly correct. Anybody who swallows as a fact, that burning mature trees processed and shipped 5,000 miles to be consumed in Yorkshire, is somehow “carbon neutral” is a victim of that creative accounting. But you don’t need 14 ‘A’ Levels (or whatever it is she has) to realise that.
//Does she actually do any harm ?//
Actually yes she does. If hers were just the normal anguished rantings and ravings of a teenager who had suffered abuse from her parents as she has, it wouldn’t matter. A bit of help from the social services would probably suffice. But for some unfathomable reason she has got the ear of world leaders. They think she represents the rational thoughts of many of her generation when it is quite clear that she is suffering from some sort of mental illness. As mentioned, she has assumed the role that governments took on when the pandemic began - of scaring people, especially youngsters, witless. It's not nice to hear of children having nightmares.
The “fight” against climate change (if there ever was one) is lost. It was never winnable. Whatever contribution mankind has made to it, he will not be able to alter it by changing his habits. The best thing to do with the squillions of £££s and $$$s it is proposed spending on this futile battle would be far better invested in preparing to cope with its effects.

Seeing as everyone is so well informed did anybody watch any of the three part series that was made by the BBC recently that involved her ?
Many stupidly thought it was all about her but only ten percent of it was because the majority of it was about the research behind her claims and how we are supposedly trying to deal with things when it is clear that we are not
But I suspect that most do not like her be at they cannot bear the thought of being informed and educated by a child even though she is actually now classed as an adult
The world is going to hell in a handcart at breakneck speed but some would rather direct their anger at someone passionate about her future and that of her generation than actually listen to the evidence
If it was presented to us by David Attenborough we would all be saying what a lovely man he was
Because it is delivered by one so young she is ridiculed
Never mind because we will get what we deserve but she certainly does not

// Pretty sad too that she is dismissed as having mental health problems when in fact she has Asperger’s syndrome //
I, for one, am not dismissing her as having mental health problems. She is fragile and easily led by those who wish to profit from her. I include her parents in this. Who, for example, allowed her to model on the cover of Vogue magazine natural wool products, after announcing to the world weeks earlier if humanity did not stop using animal products, we would all be doomed? If she was consistant and less dramatic in her preachings/predictions then I would have more sympathy for her cause. As it is I have sympathy for her as a person, as she is fragile, and I have a feeling this will not end well for her.
