The airline clearly explained why Kahn and his mate were booted off the the plane. The rules may be silly, illogical, senseless etc but they are the rules and no one is better at applying senseless pointless rules than our American friends. Amir me old china just bear it so you can travel.

SP, //American Airlines has said Khan and his colleague were “deplaned” because they repeatedly refused to comply with crew member requests to stow luggage, place phones in airplane mode and adhere to face mask requirements.// I don't call 'repeatedly' refusing to comply with the crew's requests a 'minor infraction'. It might be convenient to claim that...

May be TTT could provide a link that will explain what he means, I need to understand before I comment.

sp: "It sounds like (and correct me if I'm wrong) you're saying that people of colour routinely play the race card. " - well they do, whenever they don't get their own way. Happens all the time.
Question Author
there is a link in the OP, TC.

Can you buy these cards?
Can you buy them? Yes, on the Dark Web.
TTT

You're talking about me, not 'they'.

Why do you say the we routinely play the race card? Are you saying the when people like me speak about racism, we're liars?

Is this also true of Jewish people who highlight examples of antisemitism?

Of women who highlight examples of sexism?

LGBT community and homophobia?

I'm not sure it does.

To claim someone is playing the race card and then to say that all black people do this all the time suggests something about you rather than the subject.
TTT

You put forward the case of the TV actor Jussie Smollett. Please explain how this supports your argument that black people routinely play the race card when we don't get our way?

What 'way' was he trying to get?

He was the perpetrator of a hoax. Do you think this outlier, extreme case is typical of what we black people do?

You're talking about me, not 'they'.// - I don;t understand that, I explained above what I meant by they.

//Why do you say the we routinely play the race card? Are you saying the when people like me speak about racism, we're liars?// - no. I'm not talking about people speaking out about racism, I thought it was quite clear that I am talking about people claiming racism in many situations when they don't get their own way. Do you deny that it happens?

//Is this also true of Jewish people who highlight examples of antisemitism?.

Of women who highlight examples of sexism?

LGBT community and homophobia?// - I don't think they are playing the race card, they may have other cards they play.

//To claim someone is playing the race card and then to say that all black people do this all the time suggests something about you rather than the subject.// - I never said that, I said it is common not 100%

sp: "You put forward the case of the TV actor Jussie Smollett. Please explain how this supports your argument that black people routinely play the race card when we don't get our way? " - well he had such a determination to claim that he was a victim of racism that he staged an incident so he could go on the news and rage about the nasty racists that had "mugged" him. Isn't that manufacturing a card game in order to play a race card?
SP, do you think it reasonable for airline crews to offload passengers who repeatedly refuse to comply with their requests?
Before or after landing?
TTT

You said that's what we do. You didn't qualify that, so I have to assume you believe that it's a common trait amongst black people. If you think black people routinely play the race card when we don't get our way - how frequently?

What percentage of us are lying?
Jussie Smollett wasn't playing the race card. If he was arrested for speeding - doing 100mph in a 50mph zone and claimed he was stopped just because he was black, I could see what you mean - but his case is wildly extreme. To put that forward as an example (no doubt after Googling 'play the race card'), doesn't work.

...unless you think that is something that black people commonly undertake.

Do you?
naomi24

Absolutely - my issue is with people who will assume the airline is reporting the incident truthfully when it's one word against the other.

Question Author
SP: who said anything about lying, trying to get special treatment by playing the race card is not lying. You are optimising the situation using what you have, fair play, If you can get away with things using it then good luck to you but that doesn't mean it goes unnoticed. I don't know the percentage but there are countless cases out there, do a bit of googling.
Could you answer my question please, sp.
/// TTT: "Amir Khan claims his removal from US plane was racially motivated" - if that's not the race card, what is? ///

By that logic, as so many of your posts are racially motivated, ergo you must be playing the race card.
Question Author
I think the Smollet case is a rarity possibly a one off but that does not detract from the original point.
TTT

So do you think gay people commonly play the gay card, women commonly complain falsely about sexism, Jews lie about antisemitism, Muslims/Islamophobia etc?

Any more - disabled people. Do they make up stories about being discriminated against?
