The airline clearly explained why Kahn and his mate were booted off the the plane. The rules may be silly, illogical, senseless etc but they are the rules and no one is better at applying senseless pointless rules than our American friends. Amir me old china just bear it so you can travel.

SP, //American Airlines has said Khan and his colleague were “deplaned” because they repeatedly refused to comply with crew member requests to stow luggage, place phones in airplane mode and adhere to face mask requirements .// I don't call 'repeatedly' refusing to comply with the crew's requests a 'minor infraction'. It might be convenient to claim that...

A slightly different comment to one I have previously read and this one still says that the timing might have had something to do with it. And well it might.....

[i]When asked if he was saying he was removed from the plane because of the colour of his skin and the fact that it was a week after the anniversary of 9/11, the boxer said: "I'm not saying that, but I think it might have something to do with that.[i]
It's not like he proffered this as an explanation.

He said rather more than that, sp. He played the race card.

You have to wonder why, if AA are racist, they don't throw every other 'Asian boy' off their flights - and I'd bet my boots they get more than an few passengers who are 'Asian boys'.

Thanks - I read the story and I can't see how they 'play the race card'.
Is it not possible that he's telling the truth - that he was indeed thrown off the plane for a minor infraction, then it was put to him by Kay Burley that the reason may have been because of his race and the timing?
None of us can say for sure what happened hear, but to dismiss the claims as 'playing the race card' is not not helpful.

It might be convenient to claim that the crew of an international airline is racist but since they fly people of all sorts every day of the year without any problems, it's clearly a complete nonsense. Khan, in my opinion was doing a 'Don't you know who I am?' They probably did - but when it came to conforming to airline regulations, they didn't care who he was - and rightly so.

Like every other "trendy" phrase or saying... "playing the race card", is just an easy, lazy soundbite, for those with nothing rational to add. Sounds "impressive" lol. Means nothing.
It's the equivalent of woke etc... anyone genuine would explain the actual issue, without needing to resort to those kind of tactics.
