The airline clearly explained why Kahn and his mate were booted off the the plane. The rules may be silly, illogical, senseless etc but they are the rules and no one is better at applying senseless pointless rules than our American friends. Amir me old china just bear it so you can travel.

SP, //American Airlines has said Khan and his colleague were “deplaned” because they repeatedly refused to comply with crew member requests to stow luggage, place phones in airplane mode and adhere to face mask requirements.// I don't call 'repeatedly' refusing to comply with the crew's requests a 'minor infraction'. It might be convenient to claim that...

SP, you won't succeed here... entitled middle-aged, straight white males, frankly, have no intention of understanding that life is not equal foe everyone. No matter which laws are changed.

yep canary wins the leap of illogic trophy once more.
Question Author
pixie: What laws need changing? what laws are different for non whites?

//Question Author I think the Smollet case is a rarity possibly a one off but that does not detract from the original point.//

It kinda does.

It's like saying that you think teenage girls are dangerous killers and then giving Mary Bell as an example.

See my answer at 16:57.
Not really, ttt.... if we were all 5 years old, every time you made a post about other races misbehaving.... we would all just say you are playing the race card. Or religion, sex, or whatever.... but it doesn't replace a conversation.
Question Author
rubbish SP, the Smollet case is an extreme one but that does not mean the race card is not played 1000s of times a day in lesser circumstances.
Ttt, please read. They "have been" changed. But, that isn't enough to stop racism. That is personal and more attitudes and real-life, than arrests.
Sorry, sp, cross posted. Why do you think the airline may not be reporting it accurately? Because he’s a man of colour? What would you say if a white man was offloaded in the same circumstances? That the airline found something personally objectionable about him? I think not.
17:02, sp, that's why I suggested not to ask for examples. We can all find absolutely anything online to support what we want- but that isn't about statistics, patterns, or real life, for most people.
Question Author
as much as I'm enjoying this discussion I have to go out, TTFN!
Naomi... when it comes to the media... nobody anywhere seems to give both sides. We all know to take it all with a pinch of salt, and I'm sure you don't believe everything you read online either.
What don’t you believe, pixie?
I don't believe anything straight out, whether reported online, tv, papers or by friends or family. You think for yourself.
The question never should be "why don't you believe them", but "why do you".
Everyone is biased, think for yourself.
I’ve read Khan’s statements. Are they made up?
Who on earth could know that? Or what context? Or why?
Well if nothing else has come of this riveting debate it's put a temporary halt to the brigadier's huffing and puffing for a while.

Well done.
Slowly and surely, doug..lol
I expect we’ll know when he sues the newspapers… but don’t hold your breath.

How can you be sure about this?

Also if the Smollett case is atypical doesn't it hurt your argument to bring it up?
