Women Need To Be Streetwise About The Powers Of Arrest And Learn Legal Process....apparently.
Is the criticism currently being levelled at Commissioner Philip Allott justified, or is he simply speaking common sense?

I think few people, if confronted by a policeman would be sure of their legal footing. Seems like an example of victim-blaming.

danny - // Women need to be streetwise to a certain extent ... // And that statement simply adds to my argument. Why do women have to be 'streetwise to a certain extent', when men clearly do not? And is that acceptable? My point is that they should no more have to be streetwise' than any men, and that society thinks it's OK to confirm that they should, is what is wrong...

naomi - Do you wear trousers? Vote? Get paid equally? Own your own money? Have a job? Did you go to school? Have you got electricity in your house? Do you drive a car? Have got sanitation? Can you go abroad on a plane?
All progress starts from 'unrealistic pipe dreams'.
The fact that you can simply shrug your shoulders and say that because it's a 'dream' we don;t need to bother trying to make it a reality does nothing for the potential chnages that will eventually stop crimes like this from happening.
But hey, let's just not bother shall we?
Like I said, it's not my problem, but if it was, I'd really want to think that we should start doing something about it.

roy - // Have you ever told another ABer to nip down to the garden centre to see the new young lady working there, andy? //
Your astounding ability to remember things I have posted decades ago borders on stalkerish.
But since no-one else has a clue what you are talking about, and I couldn't care less, your post is going where it belongs - nowhere.
Are you going to try and shoehorn a Jimmy Savile mug into the thread somewhere?

Deskdiary, I don't envisage every woman walking around with their pepper spray in their hand spraying every man who looks at them twice. I do think that if every pervert knows every woman is carrying a self protection device and is allowed to use it, then it might make him think twice, which might, just might, save an innocent persons life.
A couple of years ago, at the time of increasing knife crime on London streets, plus Muslim jihadist terrorist attacks, Cressida Dick was recorded as saying she was "proud" to announce that she had more than 300 hundred officers (can't remember the exact figure) working on "hate crimes".
She is an incompetent ass, a disgrace, & should resign or if she doesn't she should be sacked.

Vulcan at 9.51 - you probably shouldn’t have said it should be ok then.
AH - you think you have the answer, but you don’t.
Educating aberrations will still make them aberrations. I, and every man I know, has managed to go through life without thinking women deserve any sort of harassment, abuse, violence or rape, and you
do our sex a disservice.

burlyshirley - // Good point roy, andy is always going on about attractive women ad infinitum and I often find it quite creepy. I notice he didn't actually answer your very good question ! //
You really must learn to be sonsistent.
last time to addressed me, you advised that you were not interested in anything I had to say.
Now it appears that you also remember things I post to an unatural and rather perplexing degree.
But I am obviously going to ignore both of you, rather than assisting you in derailing the thread.
Maybe you could address the issue, instead of your own bizarre obsessions with the postings of a stranger.

Then we can agree to differ.

Obviously, some people are deeply disturbed, but it's the children and young me of the future whom I believe could benefit from some education, as I have outlined.

I can only speak for myself, not every man I know, and I have done the same.
But the fact remains than an unacceptably large number of men regard women as a separate species, and treat the accordingly.
One of them is the numpty referred to in the OP.
It would be wonderful to think he is a minority, but regardless of our individual attitudes, you and I both know that he is not.
