Nicola Sturgeon has failed to act properly in her weekly performance on Covid She has ruled out extending vaccine passports to bars cafes etc which I think is a mistake and worst of all last week John Swinney said he was planning on tightening up regulations on mask wearing, something that has not been done. This is a total failure things are going to get worse

Regulations on mask wearing seem to have gone out the window. Nobody in England wears them and many think they are of little/no use. Scots are beginning to stop wearing them too.

If I lived in Scotland, I'd be glad she had changed her mind about passports for bars, cafes, etc. A lot of people need and want to move on and that is NOT moving on.

The fact is, we need to either be vaccinated or have caught Covid to acquire immunity. Stay safe, avoid crowded places, be fully vaccinated, and let everyone else get the virus until it eventually reduces the numbers.

gordie, I've been going to bars and cafes for ages now without the need for 'passports' and so has everyone else I know. Really, it's time to move on. It's like the flu, it's never going to go away, so do we live our lives or stay away from life ? I prefer to carry on as normal.

I'm double vaccinated as well as having had the booster 10 days ago. I agree with you we need to live with it.

If people are not vaccinated then they will continue to get Covid, its up to them. The rest of us have chosen to protect ourselves, the NHS and the economy by having the jabs and getting back to work, school and social activities.

Be careful when you say that, Shirley. I said it some time ago in exactly the same context. I mentioned that the remnants of the 1968 "Hong Kong 'Flu" are still with us and the remnants of Covid will be the same. I was castigated for "saying it's only like 'flu" (when in fact I said nothing of the sort). But I totally agree with you. This constant state of panic and threat needs to stop. As well as that, the case for face coverings is by no means convincing. It is strange that in Wales, where they are mandatory, they have a higher infection rate than in England, where they have not been mandated since July. But that's neither here nor there. The virus is no longer a great threat to the vast majority of people. Wearing masks has become the defining image of a society gripped by fear and they have become a divisive issue. Equally ludicrous are the so-called "Covid passports". No government can prevent its people from catching a respiratory virus. They have been around for as long as humans have and we simply have to live with them. Walking around masked up and waving a certificate to enter a pub or restaurant is not living with the virus, it's trying to supress it, and that can't be done.

vaccine passports will kill business, covid is not going away, you can catch covid whether you are vaccinated or not. I am glad she is not extending the passports. If you are triple vaxxed then you should have nothing to fear from living life.

Except it can. As we have seen by the success of lockdown's etc and the upsurge in cases after lockdown ended (and yes we did need to end lockdown).... but all this newjudge etc nonsense about live with it, dont bother testing, carry on as normal if infected and infectious... is just nonsense that shows some completely misunderstand the problem

Lockdowns caused lots of other problems including suicides, depression, weight gain, increased domestic violence, home deaths. Wasn't the purpose of the vaccines to be able to live life again without the fear of severe covid putting you in hospital?
