Good for her. Oops! Maybe I shouldn't have said that.

There's definitely an unpleasant, and vocal, minority of trans people. This is for sure, and you'll get no argument from me on this. On the other hand, I find the suggestion that there is a "penchant" within the trans community for aggression, or aggressive behaviour, to be a clear exaggeration. It's taking the vocal minority as too representative. They get a lot of attention for sure, but it's not at all "taking people for fools"* to point out that they are unrepresentative of the vast majority of people, trans or otherwise, whose sole focus is to get on with their own lives in peace and comfort. The debates over access to bathrooms, or of trans people's participation in sport, don't run against this either, at least not in principle.
// You only have to look at the men using women’s toilets argument or the male athletes taking part in women’s sports to see that. //

Since all minorities suffer a vocal further minority who determine that they will hijack their difference in order to use it as a weapon against the wider society, we must accept that this is what is going on here.

But as you point out naomi - pretending that a poisonous minority are not remotely representative of the bizarrely attention-seeking, needy, self-obsessed majority, is to exhibit naivete in the extreme

I see what I see.
I'm not saying that my bad behaviour is your "fault". I'm saying that I don't accept that I've behaved badly in the first place. An attempt at humour that has fallen flat, at worst. I wouldn't dream of accusing you of having no sense of humour; I don't have high enough an opinion of my own sense to judge anybody else's.
It's a complete nonsense to suggest that the majority of trans people are "attention-seeking, needy, [and] self-obsessed". At least, no more than any other subset of humanity is.

I’ve said nothing like that. I suggest you post it for the attention of ….. whoever.
I was quoting Andy, not you.

Right.
Indeed it is :)
Cannot get my head around "genderless". Does that simple mean they have no genitalia ? Just asking.
The meaning of "genderless" applies to social or cultural gender, rather than anything biological. So a "genderless" person doesn't see themselves as fitting within either traditional male or traditional female roles within society. There are a lot of potential nuances with how such people *do* see themselves, which I won't go into here, but the main point is that it has exactly nothing to do with genitalia.
Also, in the specific context of the title, the Brit Awards were genderless because there were no separate male of female awards categories.

We know.

16.47. Potty! But I’m not supposed to say that. I’m supposed to take flights of fancy seriously. MTH.
It's very difficult to understand something if you aren't prepared to take it seriously to begin with. There's a lot more to the human experience than many of us are capable of imagining, from our own limited perspectives. I confess that I too can't fully understand many aspects of the gender spectrum. But it seems a bit much to assume that if I personally can't understand it, it must therefore be "potty".
Why should there be male and female categories in the Brit awards? It's not like sport, where sex makes one group on average stronger than another.
//The mistake here seems to be to conflate the views of one or two morons with the views of an entire community. //
Jesus Christ, Jim. We all know there are extremists in everything, that do not represent the majority. You know as well as I do, that this example is kind and pleasant, compared to many.

But,- even the mildest advocates are clearly a problem. This idea, that either women don't really exist, or are just an inferior version of men... (why are we measuring testosterone, and not oestrogen and progesterone??). Is just full on disrespect and misunderstanding.

Give him a moment, naomi, if he is brave enough, and he can mansplain to you why being a woman... isn't what you think it is :-). Sheer entitlement.
Question Author
People can imagine what they like but why the rest of us are expected to indulge then in their fantasy is a mystery.
// This idea, that either women don't really exist, or are just an inferior version of men...//

What idea? I have *never* advanced this, never thought this, and I don't think I've ever come across it.
Rubbish.
Ok Jim... to give you a chance at least... what is a woman?
