British Citizens who have chosen to live abroad permanently, will now be allowed to vote in UK General Elections thanks to a new law passed by Parliament. I am sure all abers will agree with this Decision.?
I doubt it's true mally, I have asked for a link. I agree why should people who choose not to live here have a vote and even if they did what constituency would they voting in?
Sorry, I don't agree with this if the person lives abroad permanently. Why should they have a right to vote if they no longer live in the UK regardlessof their citizenship.
They would be eligible to vote in either the constituency for the last UK address they were registered at or if they were never registered, the last UK address they lived at.
Frankly I think it's disgusting that anyone should swan off to gawd knows where and still have a vote in UK. Why would they be allowed? Why would they want to? They don't care enough to live here. I am determinately NOT backing the government on this madness.
TORATORATORA, ex-pats have been able to vote in Parliamentary elections for some time but only if they've not been outwith the UK for more than fifteen year.
Overseas voters must register in the constituency in which they were registered before leaving the UK. Registration must be renewed annually for up to 15 years after leaving. People who left more than 15 years ago are ineligible to register.
