Of cotton wool to keep wrapping people up in?
I can remember back in the 50/60s when my family struggled to pay fuel /food / rent bills, it really is nothing new, but you had to stand on your own two feet. If you didn't have the money you went without, or paid when you could, little at a time.
It now seems that every little problem families have they go screaming for handouts. How long can this carry on, and should it carry on?
In my view its teaching people nothing, you won't help anyone by keep on propping them up.
In another 5 months or so you will find some complaining that their kids will have no Christmas presents. Will Sunak come up with a giveaway for that also. :)
Well means so many government ministers made so much money during the pandemic, awarding contracts to companies they had interests in, especially rubbish PPE that amounted to millions if not billions. I don't think I will lose any sleep whatsoever with my few quid. :)
But don't be fooled one bit, all this was timed for the Sue Grade report coming out to keep the public sweet.
Well I pay at least double that amount per month Tax so I for one will treat it as a tax rebate. IMO Its going to the wrong people but me not accepting it or giving it away will not make any difference.
^^ Why not also ask the government to get in the right gear in getting some of the money back that Matt Hancock creamed off for his pub mate to deliver PPE, that never happened :) And who knows how much he creamed off for his fancy bit that he was necking at work?
THECORBYLOON Who has said its a bad idea? Not me. As an idea its ok, just going to the wrong people. A bit like the Child Benefit that everyone got a few years ago, even millionaires. Only the totally blinkered in society would see this as a genuine charitable act by a considerate and empathic government.
Zacs Master AB is hardly hard to navigate, read some stuff and answer the question. Public forums, been on them for years, not my first rodeo as they say, but pretty soft core here. I've seen more life at the local WI meetings. Ha Ha!
sigh. Any help to the very needing, in the form of cash or vouchers is, in principle, a good idea. Giving it to the whole Nation regardless of their personal wealth is ridiculous, and IMO a vain attempt to curry favour with the populous.
10.38 tantp. What you find on here is that there are one or two that think because they've been posting for a few years, seem to think they own the site, and have more say than the ED.
Sadley they spend more of their time tying to insult you than getting involved with the thread itself. They will nit pick whatever you say.
I have asked on another thread and am still unclear. Many seem to think they are getting this money directly to their accounts as if there will be control over what we spend it on or if we give it away. From what I've read it's going straight to your energy supply as a credit. The £400 at lest.
