I think that the UK is not ready for a PM whose skin is not quite the right shade of pale. Despite Mordaunt being female, I suspect that she will appeal more to the Tories than Rishi.
No link, I'm afraid. This is just an observation.
//Khandro, it is judgemental. You reject him because he's Hindu. That's judgemental//
But it's perfectly acceptable, naomi. Choosing which politician you prefer has to be a matter of judgement. Personally I am very wary of any politician who follows any organised religion with any fervour. I firmly believe that organised religion has no place in this country and I should like to see all places of worship closed down. Those wishing to do whatever it is followers of religion seem to have to do should do so in the comfort of their own homes.
The Muslims did worship in their own homes when they came over in the 50/60s. Men in one room, women in another. Then they took over a lot of empty buildings and converted them to mosques. You would have a lot of trouble if you tried to close them down now.
NJ, it has to be acceptable because people have choices, and I wouldn’t deny them that. Nevertheless it is judgmental, and if religion doesn't interfere with or influence the job performance - and I've seen no indication that Sunak's religion plays any part whatsoever in his working life - then that judgement is irrational. Whether or not people want religion to disappear is another discussion altogether.
I have to agree with the OP there are many that will never accept a person of colour especially if there is the slightest chance that the are not CofE!

Even though it is an issue in our world i think this is over thinking about skin and religious issues, it is not about colour or race but the competence of people that matter.
