They, and many other people involved in strikes, behave like morons and then expect to have the sympathy of the country at large.

You think no teacher has had holiday jobs, gap year jobs or like me worked for years before going into teaching, Zacs?
^^^ typo - cannot, sorry. Typing too fast, going to cook dinner now. Apologies for any other typos.
Jourdain, there are many professions which involve some heavy lifting so carting a few books around doesn’t really make me see teaching as a hard job. As for dealing with temper tantrum teens, I accept that since the ending of corporal punishment (which many teachers abused) it must be very difficult but I don’t see either situation as overriding the fact that in a commercial environment, you’re only as good as your last job and the threat of redundancy for not performing far outweighs bookmarking.
Where have I said that, Gness? If you want to debate the teacher situation please stick to what I’ve actually said. It’s a large factor in threads going awry on here.
Wow, Zacs - I can't believe you wrote that seriously. You simply have no idea. Short of a long, long exposition you aren't going to understand. I understand about the pressures of keeping a firm going - my sister runs an MOT garage and employs 7 chaps, including my nephew. If an teacher gets some word wrong at the wrong time - you can lose the only chance in life some kids will ever have.

I repeat, you have to do it to understand.

By the way, do all these physically heavy jobs also require you to fire on all cylinders ALL the time with teenagers as well?
Oh gness you always take a generalisation and make it personal and narrow it down to a small sector when we talk about teachers none of us mean special ed we all mean general public school daily bread kind of stuff thirty grand for special education or minding is much different to timmy who just wants to play with his fidget spinner
\\Teachers were offered a £1,000 one-off payment this year, and a 4.3% rise next year. Starting salaries would also rise to £30,000 from September.//

30k starting salary, there aren't many jobs with that.
^^' a teacher', sorry. 'Carting a few books around'!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Try over half a mile, with associated files, and up and down stairs. By the way you are also on duty all the time so, whilst crawling around to reach the next class before a riot breaks out, you have to monitor corridor/stair behaviour and deal with it. You have no rest.
I acquit you of malice - but you are ignorant of what you speak.
with technology what can a teacher tell me that my phone cant and half the time you can prove them wrong thats why i like math its never wrong it is what it is and it makes sense you would hope history doesnt change but oh it unfortunately does some how
// a seditious attack on the country by hard left unions that think they can bring down the government. //

You don’t half write crap sometimes.

you seem to have no answer to it though gromit.
We were not all Mr. Gradgrind. Neither are the ones still in the profession.
One of Mr. Gradgrind quotes.

Facts alone are wanted in life. Plant nothing else, and root out everything else. You can only form the minds of reasoning animals upon Facts: nothing else will ever be of any service to them. This is the principle on which I bring up my own children, and this is the principle on which I bring up these children.
Teachers deliberately swamping Dover with coaches of school children bound for France is a national disgrace.

Marxist teaching unions have employed this despicable tactic as an alternative to striking to further their claims for more pay.

As I have said: BREXIT IS NOT TO BLAME!
Tongue out of cheek, Dave.
sad but true-ish, dave. Also, I have heard from reliable sources that some of them encourage pupils to become train drivers so they can bring the country to a halt while receiving funds from Pyongyang.
It's not meant to be a generous offer just a reasonable affordable one.they already has 5. 5% and are now been offered an extra lump sum of I think it's £1500 so that's like another 4 or 5 %. Then they been offered 4.5% for the following year....by which temple let's hope inflation falls. It'd be nice to give a much bigger increase but whose going to pay for it. But I don't really see why the goverment has to make the offer. .. isn't the employer the local authority lea or academy Trust or diosece for Catholic schools
Dear god, Roadman. Think about what I said. I said many children with special needs. I didn't say all the children I taught had special needs. I have taught children with and without special needs plus deaf children and helped teach two blind children.
I have, through their parents and social media, followed many of them since leaving and they have done so well....read well, write or use braille and compose a well written and well punctuated composition/letter ... or even a post on here, should they wish.
And pack it it with the always take a generalisation tripe. You don't know me at all. You need to read what is written and not what you want to read.
we have all been through school well most of us me i went public school so surely i can comment from my experience
