He has quit the Tories.

He has previously announced he is not contesting the next election.

But he continues to be the area's MP.

He has not quit, there is no By Election.

What a complete ***.

By-elections cost the taxpayer around quarter of a million.  We have a general election within 8 months (tops) so why the need for a by-election?  Look at Jeremy Corbyn who has been sitting as an independent for goodness knows how long know.  Did you call for a by-election in Islington?

Unlike Corbyn, Abbott and others Menzies has actually left his party: not that that is really relevant perhaps.

There is a feeling the election may come in June or July, so he hasn't much longer anyway.
