//And yet many muslims simply ignore the parts of the koran....// What you fail to understand, untitled, is that Islamic literature (Muslims don't abide solely by the Koran)  provides for every eventuality, and everything they do - from the best to the worst - can, from their literature, be justified in one way or another.  Islam is not simply a religion - it...

You should be worried about it in any circumstances.

10:12 "what is it that you want to know? " - FGS you are like an eel! Will Islam become westernised and civilised or once they get enough will we become and Islamic nation? What do you see happening going forward regarding Islam?

Untitled // some muslims i know who are born here and speak like i do and have the same cultural references as i do...//

If that were true, either you must be a Muslim, or they are not.

You cannot possibly have the same "cultural references" with a follower of Islam.

of course you can

I think islam is likely to change toratoratora

Question Author

"of course you can" - yeah just lob a gay off the post office tower and you'd fit right it khandro! PMSL!

Question Author

10:25 finally we are getting somewhere. How will they change?

untitled 10.25 dream on. Islam  has not changed in a thousand years.

Untitled, islam can't change.  It's book is the infallible word of Allah, it's prophet the infallible perfect man - each deemed beyond criticism.  It simply cannot change.

the circumstances in which muslims live will change toratoratora and i expect the way they practise their religion will change too. for one thing in 50 years the descendents of today's muslims will be very far removed indeed from the societies that their parents migrated from  - they will forget some languages or use them exclusively religiously and will identify more with the country around them than the one they came from. this will likely put them at odds with more recent arrivals and how that gets resolved is anyone's guess.

you're telling me islam is exactly the same religion now that it was 1400 years ago? i don't believe you.

What's changed, untitled?

untitled and answer comes none same book same doctrine.

Untitled //you're telling me islam is exactly the same religion now that it was 1400 years ago? i don't believe you. //

It becomes clearer with each of your posts just how ignorant you are about Islam. Islam has changed during 14 centuries by the addition af a few hadiths, and in case you don't know the difference between Quran and Hadith?

The Quran is viewed as an authentic and faultless word of Allah, (and your Muslim friendly nieghbours believe that implicitly, even though they may be Arsenal supporters)

The Hadith is a collection of added narratives about the prophet Muhammad.  But unfortunately far from making things better, they have made things worse, for example by telling how Muhamad had sexual intercourse & 'married' a child of nine. So the Muslim grooming gangs in Bradford, or wherever, think it's OK to follow suit. !!

And yet many muslims simply ignore the parts of the koran they don't like. plenty of them drink or take drugs for instance. just about all the people who protested for women's rights in iran must have also been devout muslims. lots will simply ignore what it says about gay people. a religion is the people who practise it. all of them. the truth is that some hold to the koran in the way you describe and some don't. that's why it seems natural to me that the religion will change when the circumstances that muslims live in change.

If you would take the trouble to listen and learn, untitled, much more would become obvious to you.

Question Author

11:15 You know what? I hope you are correct. I envy your confidence even if I don't share it.

It's true that some Muslims do err, but some of them realizing that they have done wrong and that those sins it will bar them from entering Paradise, can clear their slate with Allah, by doing something 'good' like stabbing the apostate Salman Rushdie in the eye.

i think they're a bit more likely to do something charitable than commit acts of terrorism khandro but then i'm not out to exploit atrocities in order to demonise people i hate

Question Author

untitled: "i'm not out to exploit atrocities in order to demonise people i hate" - cart before the horse there me old china. No one would hate them if they didn't commit the attrocities.
