OK OK I know this is going to make me sound stupid, but what exactly do these people actually want?? Why are the terrorists so keen on murdering us? If they hate us so much why do they live in Britain and America? I honestly don't understand what they want!

How many other incidents like that have you seen? I have seen and know about more than a handful of things like the cab office, I don't say what I do out of blind prejudice, I have seen with my own 2 eyes what goes on with muslims, like the muslim shopkeeper who was whipping a boy in the back of his shop, I happened to see this through the door which was ajar! And since you are into racist beatings, how about Chris Donald from the Govanhill area of Glasgow, bundled into the back of a car, driven about a bit, then beaten up, slashed and set on fire then left for dead, the 3 youths that did this were muslims from wealthy moderate backgrounds!

Madein1970, what have you seen that is so frightening about moslems?
The people you saw 'rejoicing' the 9/11 bombings were clearly not moderate moslems-at least in their views- and I of course, will not defend them or their behavior in any way. That however, is a handful of ppl and you cannot use them to generalize the rest of the moslem population around the world. Have you ever actually talked to a moslem person about his/her views on this, or are you drawing your conclusions largely from what you have 'seen' ?

Yes, I have spoken to muslims before, and I was truly aghast at what they said. They said to me that the September the 11th, or the Glorious 11th as they put it, that it was well overdue, and Britain was next. They also said (I'm using they so that I don't identify anyone) that the muslims that had flown the planes into those buildings had rid the world of infidel and been granted eternal glory by allah. Another muslim I spoke to said that the 4 who carried out the London bombings were to be praised for killing all of those people because they were westerners who would not allow islam into their lives, they also seemed to believe that those who did not believe in islam should be beheaded,they added to this that Allah will conquer the world eventually,Allah will rid the world of non believers. After I heard this from these people I really was fearful for my life and got away from them as quickly as possible.

Everything you've said sounds like its come straight out of an extremist's mouth. The moslem ppl I know- they are moslem, believe it or not- are totally against all terrorism and violence and they have never justified any acts of terrorism carried out by the extremists.
Just to get back to the point of this thread, the extremists are those who follow the religion word for word, in every sense and these ppl are the dangerous (volatile) kind.
The moderates can or may not be religious, some are even secular and dont actually seem to care so much abt religion or world politics.
By labelling the moderates and the extremists as one and the same, you are marginalizing the 'good' (moderate)moslems who have done nothing, which they will no doubt find racist and completely unfair!

I don't doubt that there are good people out there that happen to be muslims, its just that they are in the minority. Take a look at the thread entitled mustafa sh4g, a muslim has written in, have a look at it and see what you think.

Glad to hear that you finally agree with me...somewhat. As joko said, this discussion would not have been as heated or gone on as long if only sweeping generalizations -which tend to come across as very prejudiced - had not been made in the first place.
