23% of British Muslims.....

believed that the attacks of 07/07 were justified according to a dispatches poll. This is seriously worrying. My 2 questions are: How many British Muslims are there living in GB? and how many people were in the poll?

According to the last census there are 1.6 million Moslems living in Britain out of a population of 59.8 million people. 91% of Moslems living in Britain identify themselves as British.

the poll result would have been from a "representative sample" & used to project a national figure; however it would be easy to slant the figures by deliberately taking "samples" from areas known for their radicalism or for being moderate. I'm not saying the pollsters did do that, but without knowing more I'd still have to remain sceptical about the 23% figure.

I think it is safe to say that if 23% admitted they thought the attacks were justified then at least 3 times that number thought they were.Remember they are cowards.

And that's just those who admit to it publicly, I believe the real figure could be a lot higher.

Whatever else we might say about suicide bombers, bill barlow, I don't think we can call them cowards. They are either very brave or else insane. I know I would be too frightened to blow myself up for a political cause - wouldn't you bill?

The accusation of "coward" would be more appropriate for someone who sits in the safety of the White House or Downing Street and sends planes out to drop bombs on innocent men, women and children.

the answer to a poll question does rely in part on the honesty of the respondent. they might give a controversial answer out of mischief, or a "majority" view to hide their true beliefs. alternatively the question may have been worded to draw a specific answer required by whoever sponsored the poll.

I still don't trust the figures.
