Why Police at all?.
Surely, if a criminal injures him/herself while trying to evade arrest, its their own fault, or isn't it. This just has to do with the compensation culture, if it goes ahead, why bother to have a Police Force at all.

If they're guilty then they've waived any rights. So if they fall over that's just tough luck. And while we're on the subject if someone breaks into your house then a similar scenario. No rights therefore you should be able to take whatever action you deem necessary to eject them. They're a potential threat tp you and your family and you should have the right to protect against that threat.
