Should these two face prosecution and even banned from the BBC?

If these calls had been to an ethnic it would have been classed racist, and their feet would have not touched the floor.

I know before any wit makes the remark that Manuel is an ethnic (Spanish), it was only the part he played.

I cant beleive so many OAP's post on Answerbank. How are so many of you outraged yet some of the content on Mock the Week and Graham Norton goes uncommented on? I am quite sure a few posters on here watch mock the week, do you also feel sorry for Kerry Katona in the same way you do with Mr Sachs?
Seafarer 1966 - It doesn't make any difference whether Sachs' grandaughter is a hooker or a nun. That is not the point.

As I understand it, if any phone call to a private address is taped and forwarded elsewhere (let alone broadcast on the radio) than that breaks the law.
nedflanders. I am an OAP and am offended or outraged by very little. Kerry Katona put herself and her antics in the public eye. What has happened to Andrew Sachs and his grandaughter is a very different issue.

Why can't you believe that so many OAP's post on here. There is life after 60 you know and we are just as varied a bunch as you younger members. Age is just a number you know.
. . . and as for Graham Norton. His obnoxious antics have been well chronicled on here on a number of occasions.

Lofty I was referring to the difference in sense of humour to the generations. There was a report on the BBC news last night about this story, they interviewed the audience of a titchmarsh show who were all outraged, then the audience of the ********* who all thought it was a nonsense and a storm in a teacup.
I have always enjoyed Jonathan Ross and have also always admired him for the way he talks about his family and seems to be such a caring and fun dad. I wonder how he would have reacted if comments such as he made were directed towards one of his own children. This doesn't mean I want him sacked, killed, etc., but he has to receive some form of warning and 'punishment' (can't think of a more suitable word).

Those that let this prerecorded item go on the air are the ones that should be worried about their jobs.

******** = never mind the buzz c*cks
Ned, I can't agree about the difference in humour between the generations. That is far too generalised. I know plenty of young people who also think that this whole thing wasn't in the least amusing. How many people on this thread are pensioners anyway - and most of them were not amused.

Oh and I always watch Buzzc0cks and hate the Alan Titmarsh show!!
there were 2 complaints to the bbc on the nite of transmission .uop to yesterday ther were 1500 complaints to the bbc .by today theres 150,000 complaints from folk whove looked for this , then watched , then complained.

how sad and lonely and pathetic are these t0ssers who know from the papers what was said .yet watch it
to complain theyre disgusted

i say a wage rise for jono for highlighting the hypocrisy of the idiots who read the sun.

an mbe or a knighthood would seem fitting

afteralll anyone can get them now
You see I would imagine the BCC in its greed have these little men of no talent on thee book because they think other channels might want them .This would be a good time and maybe the silver lining in his whole thing to have a review on just who it employs and what it pays them .The pair are I would imagine contracted and the details would not allow them to be sacked .So leave them on the bench so to speak .The are going no where as the BBc hold the rights .Let them buy their contract out .
At 6m per year why would they want to buy their contract out???
Lofty - You are obviously a hip OAP :-)

Weecalf - Ross is supremely witty, more so than any other current broadcaster, hence he has 2 tv shows and a radio show. ITV will snap him up in a second if he is sacked and give him a prime time show. Whilst this was possibly an error of judgement, he remains the best tv show host by a mile.
Thanks Ned, but I can assure you that there are loads of us out there like me, not exactly 'hip', but not stuck in a rut. Don't forget us younger OAP's were the generation of the 60's - the era where everything changed and we were part of it!! We paved the way for you....................................... ;o)
Oh, and I agree with you about Ross, Ned!

The point I was making was even though these two people want to continue to be on television they would not be alllowed to by the BBC .If they are sitting on the BBC benches the are not winnning any ratng war with other channels. When the are well and truely brught back down to earth they migh think the only way out is to buy there contracts out .That was the BBC does not have to sack them and use up more of the licence payers money .Or for get all about as I believe they have not only put themselves but the BBC in a spot .
Doc.Spock

This is the whole point, they dare not have based the call around a race issue.

You and AOG are actually amazing.

Seriously.

LEAVE THE RACE THING ALONE FOR TEN MINUTES!!! JOIN IN THE DEBATE AND TAKE YOUR RACE BLINKERS OFF.

Christ Almighty...you are literally astonishing.

Why not say, "If they were phoning a Jewish bloke it would never be allowed"

or

"If they were phoning a handicapped bloke it would never be allowed"

or

"If they were phoning a Muslim bloke it would never be allowed"

Get off your hobby horse for a minute and try to say something constructive. You come across as...as...weird.

Yes...really, really weird.

I'm not saying you are...I'm just saying you come across that way.
Weird is spot-on: In another thread Doc said "If I could press a button and they would both die, I would do it"

He wants them dead fer christ's sake! Dead.

Georgina Baillie must be loving this - they have done her a massive favour, because I can't be the only one who had never heard of her before this (very very very funny) incident.

I strongly suspect she will be plastered over the News Of The World on Sunday in her skimpies having been paid thousands, or even tens of thousands of pounds, telling us all how upset she is.
