Immigrants Leave for Home

With pictures of Romanian immigrants in Northern Ireland splashed around the world many have felt sympathy to their cause. They are here legally as they are part of the wider EU.

Will this stop a flood of refugees from elsewhere wishing to make their home in Ireland or will they continue to target England where the population are more compassionate? If so how can we prevent this surge?

Leggy, i think the leaked membership lists of the BNP shows that they are not illiterate fools!

its the age old argument of if the immigrants didn't do the jobs then who would and the answer is the government needs to sort out the benefits system so that people who are able to work have to!

as for who is going to clean the hospitals and farm the land, coming from a farming area i know handfuls of farm labourers and agricultural contractors who are out of work because of eastern europeans doing it cheaper, the company i work for has just forced out 12 british cleaners and replaced them with eastern europeans because they will work for less money.

A hospital not to far from me has just sacked a number of eastern european workers because they couldn't get them to stop smoking in the building or washing their hands and other simple basic hygene within a hospital so do you really want them training as nurses and doctors

Leggy, if there where no immigrants those jobs would still need doing. If the employers could not get anyone they'd offer more until they could, that's market forces. Ok so prices would no doubt have to rise but government would save billions in benefits and shock horror may even reduce taxes!

So the answer is then, leggy to allow more and more people to rely on the State (i.e. the taxpayer) for their very existence and to ship in more and more people to do the work needed to raise the taxes to support them?

I don't think that this is a sustainable option.

Those who believe that those not working would continue not working if their funds were withdrawn may be surprised. I am certainly not looking through rose tinted specs - I threw them out long ago. But the notion that one will be kept (in relative luxury) by the taxpayer from cradle to grave must be challenged as a matter of priority.

And ive met many folk from yorkshire in tenerife on the dole on holiday.

I compete with foreign workers every day of my life.

My company has sites around the world and if I and my team don't deliver the work will simply go to India or the US or Europe.

It's frankly sickening to listen to those who are simply too lazy to compete going on about "British jobs for British workers"

What they mean is "Don't give the work to the best people, give it to us just because we were born here - oh and pay more too!"

Whilst I hate to admit it - my son to has just lost his job (joiner) and the company has now re-employed workers from other EU companies. I had always tried to defend open borders but now I could just cry when I think about it. He would take anything but he has been offered jobs in Manchester and even further away (we live in West Yorks)

Jobs should go to the best person for the job not the cheapest

you all keep going on about chavs living off the dole, what about the immigrants who come to this country and live off the dole

if a eastern european comes and integrates into the community and is willing to work then they should be encouraged and welcomed,

its the immigrants who come and want to take over a community and make it a little part of their country and then take jobs which thye are getting for the sole reason of being a lot cheaper than their british counterparts who should be discouraged from coming and making a already stretched country even worse

Just as you do when you buy a car or a washing machine.

Do you think you should have that choice but not employers?
