Should these women now face a dishonourable discharge, for a self inflicted condition, making them unfit for active service?

Hiya, naomi.
Yes, he's eschewed his former 'trade' and is now training to be a helicopter pilot.
So that's about 2 years before he goes back................................much to his mother's relief :o)
jack....just to relieve my mind....are you really female?

If so why jackthe hat?
"sara3 The reason I chose to ignore you last post, was because it, along with your other posts, did not contain enough of an argument to deserve an answer, sorry."

is that all you're ever here for? an argument? don't you DO discussions, as grown-up, reasonable people do?
It's good to see you smiling. :o)
Yes, I'm female.
The username I wanted was taken when I registered for AB. Jackthehat is the soubriquet by which my partner is known and it was the first thing that popped into my mind when I had to think of an alternative.
Sorry, cross-posted - my post was for Jack.
He's grown up a lot, naomi.
He changed (mainly for the good, I'll admit) when he came back.
But life is good for him, at the moment...................and by extension, for me.
Thankyou. :D
Jack, I can't say I know exactly what you mean - I don't have the worry of children in the army - but I'm a mum - and I know what you mean - if you know what I mean. Time to go methinks! :o)

Oh alright then, hate to think you are in some way left out.

//// Women soldiers are not in Afghanistan as secretaries or nurses AOG./////

The Army currently employs more than 7,000 trained women, representing 7.7 percent (trained) of the Army. Within this, more than 10 percent are Officers, with a female/male Officer ratio of 1 in 10.
More than 70 percent of jobs in the Army are open to women (close combat roles are excluded) spanning more than 140 trade groups and 1,000 job types - from pilots to chefs, mechanics to musicians. Female Brigadiers and Colonels are filling posts across the intelligence, medical, dental, legal, educational, administrative, logistic and communications fields.

Did not say anything about secretaries now did I? Administrative yes.

Nurses? I think medical covers that.

Are the Army breaking the sexual discrimination law, by not allowing females to fight on the front line?

Enough was said about the BNP breaking the Race discrimination law, by not allowing ethnics in their party. But then this is another matter, or is it?.
They are on the front line AOG,just not in close combat. They fly helicopters and do foot patrols along with their male colleagues. That is pretty front line as far as I am concerned. Did you even read the excerpt from the BBC article I posted? You still seem to think the female soldiers are only 'behind the scenes/support roles'.

I hope the 3 after your name doesn't denote your age.

If not please look up the word "Argument" in a dictionary.

"A discussion involving disagreement".
Shouldn't you be snoozing gently in front of the wireless, shortly, AOG.
You seem to have run out of ideas on this thread ....................

Yes I did read your BBC link,

I am not saying whatever they are employed at doesn't carry a certain amount of risk, the whole part of my argument was that perhaps those "mums to be" wanted the hell out of there, don't you think that given the chance most of our troops would also jump at the opportunity, to be safely back in the arms of those they hold dear?

Very, very few fly helicopters, all be it a pretty safe occupation, in the whole scheme of things.

I think you will find the foot patrols that they join are mainly on a winning hearts and minds exercise with the Afghan women.

And the vehicle driving is all part of the Logistics Corps duties.
Oh dear. No comment because Sqad will know what I am going to say.

Stick to the Hip Hop AOG !!!! ;o)

That sounds about right, judging by your posts also, it seems you have never had an idea in your life.
maybe they should give the female soldiers a contraceptive injection before they are deployed...?
Lofty...welcome.

I was going to send a "fao Lofty" to help on this thread, but up you have popped.
I'm staying quiet from now on (on this thread that is!)
