Jermy Hunt tells the truth and it's toys out the pram again..

20000+ drunk ticketless scousers force their way into a football match and cause death, I'd say he's absolutely correct. Why are the Hillsborough sympathisers so unable to accept the basic truth? Yes Plod made errors but it wouldn't have been an issue if not for all those ticketless hooligans.

Look all I'm saying is that any suggestion that the police where not 100% to blame is met with hysteria. I believe the deaths where in a large part caused by other fans. See here an article from the Liverpool Daily Post by John Williams:
"So it was at Hillsborough that the yobs made enough nuisance of themselves to convince the police that so-called gates of Hell were opened… the gatecrashers wreaked their fatal havoc. At best it was unfettered zeal. At worst it was uncontrolled fanaticism and mass hysteria which literally squeezed the life out of men, women and children. This was yobbism at its most base. People without tickets who had no right to be there were crushing to death their fellow Scousers. When it comes to apportioning blame, the accusatory finger can also be pointed at Liverpool. Scouse killed Scouse for no better reason than 22 men were kicking a ball"
I acknowledged several times the Police made mistakes will someone admit that the errant fans where not 100% blameless?

No one was 100% to blame
The police made a split second decision to open a gate to avoid people being crushed to death outside the ground, which ultimately resulted in others being crushed to death inside the ground
Fans urgency to get into the ground, the decision to open the gate, insufficient stewarding inside the ground, the fact that security fencing surrounded our grounds at that time, and police incompetance were all major factors

Football hooligans cause fights both inside and out of the football grounds, usually with opposing fans or firms like at Heysel.
That *some* Liverpool fans behaved in a loutish manner at Hillsborough is obvious. However, they were not *hooligans* in the same manner. Using the two situations to describe 'hooliganism' was ill-thought out and Hunt has been rightly castigated.

I think you know mick talbot that I was agreeing that hooligansim was taking place,.As much as others would 100% blame the police. Still there is hope, joeluke: "Fans urgency to get into the ground, the decision to open the gate, insufficient stewarding inside the ground, the fact that security fencing surrounded our grounds at that time, and police incompetance were all major factors"
"All major factors", thanks Joe, finally someone admits that all the fans where not fluffy bunny scousers maliciously crushed by the evil anti scouse old bill. Well done.

Sorry to introduce a few facts here Geezer rather than some half remembered untruth from the Sun.
The Game was Nottingham Forest v Liverpool. Despite Liverpool being by far the bigger club, they were allocated the smallest end terrace. Forest fans got 21,000 tickets and Liverpool got 14,600 tickets. The Taylor Report estimates 5,000 Liverpool fans turned up without tickets.
So the Liverpool End was already full with 14,600 ticket holding Liverpool supporters when the Police opened the gates to let in the 5,000 outside.
So your statement that 20,000+ forced their way into the ground is both inaccurate and by the inference that it was all their own fault, deeply offensive.

At 1452, police ordered a large exit gate - Gate C - to be opened to alleviate the crush outside the ground. Around 2,000 fans then made their way into the ground and headed straight for a tunnel leading directly to pens 3 and 4.
