I care neither one way nor another that he is dead (as Gazza said he could have been in out in 12yrs cos he only killed one person ...........W TF?)

Anyway I have followed this and the police categorically denied deploying a Taser.

They have now admitted they did at the time of his death.

How much confidence do you have in the police (if you had any anyway beforehand) now?

I know Police to be the same as the rest of us-they cheat and lie -they are human.

What still rankles me is that policewoman sniggering on the TV last night when her colleague was reading out a card saying he was a nutter -that could have had horrendous consequences.

i once gave a witness statement for a missing tourist and said i hope ive been of help and the Policeman said the longer the better for us and rubbed his fingers like more dosh !!

I have no faith-what about you?

Well I've seen some really bad examples of policing and I've seen some really good examples of dedicated officers wanting the best for people (I've worked closely with officers specially trained in child protection - my goodness the ones I met are seriously dedicated people). There are bad apples in every barrel. The media hype over Moat I think has not helped and only when the whole thing is told can we really know what happened - now it's too soon.

For my part, I don't know what happened, but I'd walk a mile in any of those officers' shoes before calling them. They conducted a difficult operation in what must have been terrifying circumstances - knowing they were a target.

As for the policewoman sniggering - I didn't see it. Wrong if she did. ON the other hand, I have known a very serious colleague of mine to do similar when faced with the press. Nervousness got the better of him and he ended up looking a total pillock.

I still have faith.
what barmaid said :)

No ehtandoron -I take ages to type.
I would say if it were you.
I was merely pointing out how the police lied -i couldnt care if he was dead although daresay his children are but that was his choice.

I just wonder if perhaps cops with guns might be the way ahead -might give them balls or otherwiser !!!

Cant get that link strangely -the one which has rattled me second to their blatant lie which they cant deny -we pride ourselves on innocent before guilty hence my Capital Punishment objection -so why again did they lie about the taser -???

He for the worthless human he probably became deserved a fair trial due to our fundamental British Judicial System and they prompted his suicide so then who are guilty hypothetically?????
Dris, I think you are jumping to conclusions too early. You don't know in what circumstances a tazer was used. Perhaps he took the safety catch off the gun and threatened to use it. Perhaps that was a last ditch attempt at unarming him before he did use it. We really do not know.

There is bound to be confusion after the event. You can bet there will be film footage of what happened (in this type of event the police will definitely have recorded it) and sooner or later the real story will be known. For now however, I think it is simply too early to say.

O and looks like I was slow to tyoe last time as well.
Ethandron -i was merely putting forward what may be a healthy discussion.
Problem with AB -post a thread then phone goes and other distractons then come back and feel i have offended people when it was just a little debate.
We are all entitled to our opinions and I love nothing but a lively debate ! I shall holdforth my opinions in the interim until I need the police then I may change my mind-I still maintain their PR wasnt up to scratch tho and I will object to their lie re the Taser as it simply didnt give me faith nor much of the public they serve.

Barmaid -Im sure in the circumstances that you accept that they were hasty in their denial then?
Hey we all get things wrong -i do -i'm human but they knew the eyes of the world were on them and they knew they were being criticised-they should have been fully aware at the first Press Conference -the latest has just made a mockery of what was becoming a sham in the eyes of the world anyway.
Who knows if he would have had a fair trial now-we are all after all is said and done entitled to one....
The police standoff with Moat was ended without any more loss of innocent life so who cares whether the police used tasers or not?

They could have ended the standoff by pelting him with fresh cream jam doughnuts for all I care

Our police do a decent job considering their hands are tied by political over correctness these days, and those who criticise the police soon take a different view when they actually need them themselves
.......... You can bet there will be film footage of what happened (in this type of event the police will definitely have recorded it) .........

If the footage shows the police doing anything wrong they will lose the film.
I certainly do not agree that all police are cheats and liars, there are good and bad in all walks of life.
My brother was in the police force for 30 years and a straighter, more honest bloke you could not meet. I know of at least 2 occasions when he has been shot at on duty, and remember when he was involved in the Prudom hunt in the 80's (he was also a police killer) that his wife was worried sick.
I've only had to call the police once when my house was burgled and they were round to see me within half an hour, and they actually caught the culprits 2 weeks later, so as far as I'm concerned they do a good job.

joe (sigh -see my name -moth to a flame lol)
The point being-the Police lied why?
The use of the Taser might have prompted suicide.Since when did the Police become Judge and Jury in our 'Innocent until proven guilty' judicial system?

rebelsouls -why do I think you are of the same mindset that there is a cover up in action to preserve our Glorious Servants of the Peace?? (thats until it gets too hot in the kitchen)
No one made Moat pull the trigger, he was obviously hell bent on not being taken alive
Yes the Police do an excellent job and are never corrupt or make mistakes and cover them up - just ask the family of Jean Charles de Menezes!
Right Karen.........I'm obviously sure that the majority of our armed forces do a marvellous job, unlike the few who let the side down when they tortured a few Iraqis.

Has anyone at all missed my point?

Dare you to answer -go on !!

Did the Police say they did NOT use Tasers re this incident?

Have the Police now said they DID use a Taser which preempted the suicide of Mote ?

How simple are those questions?

BTW Forget personal feelings -im sure most have reason to I know I have but I still dont see grey areas.
Maybe the taser was meant for Gazza and they missed? Afterall, i'd be a little startled if he turned up with, and I quote....

a can of lager, chicken, a fishing rod, a mobile phone and a dressing gown for Moat.
Gazza wouldn't have felt it anyway, he's on another planet these days
I find the whole thing so bizarrely surreal that it's funny (sorry Dris) His agent said....

"Gascoigne's agent was shocked to learn he was in Rothbury. Kenny Shepherd said: "He's doing what? ... I'm speechless.""
Question Author
True its the only bleeding funny thing about this farce :)
I'll go fishing with him..............has to go down in the annals of 'gazza' as the most obscure thing he has been allowed to say :)
