I care neither one way nor another that he is dead (as Gazza said he could have been in out in 12yrs cos he only killed one person ...........W TF?)

Anyway I have followed this and the police categorically denied deploying a Taser.

They have now admitted they did at the time of his death.

How much confidence do you have in the police (if you had any anyway beforehand) now?

I know Police to be the same as the rest of us-they cheat and lie -they are human.

What still rankles me is that policewoman sniggering on the TV last night when her colleague was reading out a card saying he was a nutter -that could have had horrendous consequences.

i once gave a witness statement for a missing tourist and said i hope ive been of help and the Policeman said the longer the better for us and rubbed his fingers like more dosh !!

I have no faith-what about you?

What The Funicular....?

Let's hope you never have to have any dealing with the police then.
I have had a bad personal experience with the police myself but I cannot condemn the whole force. There are people who genuinely want to help/make a difference. When you she stories like these and stories involving police brutality it does make you wonder though.... What would we do without the force?

They should act professional at all times. It's a shame that people have lost or are losing faith but I suppose when incidents/stories like these come about can you blame them?
The police force this morning said they didn't deploy the taser for the very reason you say, the jerk from the stun could have caused him to pull the trigger. It will all come out in the wash.
How about these two bent coppers from the news yersterday

Beats me how all they got was a suspended sentence.

Im interested that you arent going down the 'serves him right' route as well onetoomany.

I firmly believe that the Police are corrupt and i have yet to meet one who will take anything on board if its too close to thier knock off time. The only Police I tend to meet are in the chipper getting their tea (for free -ever seen a skinny copper?) or a mile away from the centre of the town to avoid the hassle at chucking out time.

They lied regarding this case-its documented and its also documented that they took the alternative route whilst chasing the Whitehaven murderer altho they were withinn 100yds of him at the junction. Hey i wouldnt put myself into a firing line but its true what they say 'its a bobbys job'.Compare them with the wee boys who have signed for Queen and Country-no comparison.
That can't be said for all police though. I though of at least five police officers who works there bums off trying to sort out our local community. They are good people.

I am not saying there are no bad ones because clearly there are. But there always has been and always will be that's just how life is unfortunately.
where would we be without any police though?
yep, they're human and like all the human race there are good and bad, mainly good. most police are fine, it's the ones who aren't who tend to make people tar them all with the same brush.
as far as i'm concerned, whether they tasered him or not, and whether it contributed to his death or not, i really couldn't care. he was a very bad person, he chose to kill, he chose to go on the run, he chose to make serious threats. he had a choice. i don't believe he would ever have amounted to a reasonable human being. any more than anyone else believes otherwise.
personally, im glad it's over. the end was inevitable, the police did what needed to be done and now all those people in northumberland can sleep a bit safer.
Well said
well put, ethandron.

ummm -I only post as I know the truth to be-its up to others to formulate their opinions.

boxy -they said caterogirally this morning that they did not use a taser. They didnt even have to issue a statement -they lied and the man killed himself.Thats the facts. As i said i care not whether he lived or died (that is now inconseqiencial)-the fact remains they blatanly lied -it cant be sugar coated.

VHG -well what can i add to that -I know one who is as bent as the proverbial bent copper sorry to coin that phrase and he is now Chief Constable.and is moving upwards and its a joke in this town....

Greedy -I wouldnt trust one with my life and i am a law abiding citizen but I have seen at first hand how manipulative they are.
and boxy :)
I also have seen them first hand. My experience ended with someone dying and it could have been avoided if the police had done their jobs properly but as I said before my bad experiences have given me my doubts but I cannot condemn an entire force just because of the bad apples.
dris, it could have been as simple as a breakdown in communication, there's been an awful lot going on out there. in this day and age, no-one in the media spotlight would, i imagine, expect to get away with a lie, especially not in these circumstances. and there would be no need to lie - they tazered him, they didn't tazer him, so what??

Woah -what did i say -I dont care where he lived or died its the blatant lying of YOUR Police Force im questioning.
Yet another case of NOT reading the thread and jumping in.
Its not about Mout per sae its about the lies.
Any of you happy with the smirking policewoman last night when people were in fear??
Especially when your Police Force were trying to minimise further carnage by playing his game hmm ??
Il get the link -see what you think then.
O no the Great British Police do no harm -no cos they do bu££er all thats why!
There have been one or two posts on various threads of late about the police doing more harm than good and I CAN understand why. But what should we do/have instead?
-- answer removed --
sorry dris, is that me your woah-ing at??
i haven't jumped in, just adding my twopenneth, same as everyone else, not having a go at you, just adding to the debate.
i have read your initial posting, i did read what you said, i know what you said about your feelings towards moat. i think you're perhaps a bit guilty of not reading my posts, or at least being a bit selective in what bits you focus on.
you obviously have your own issues with the police, well, that's another story surely?
if you re-read my last post, perhaps you'll see a situation that might be the case? a breakdown in communication, perhaps not a deliberate attempt to lie - for what purpose?
anyhow, i'm off to open a bottle of wine. no offence to you dris, just adding my views.
