Apparently they are much hated according to News 24 this morning. Can't think why I think they are a giant leap for mankind myself. No longer do I have to wait in line behind slow people doing annoying things eating into my lunch break. My local ASDA for example has 14 of them so I never have to queue. So self service tills, love em or hate em?
Jack: the old Safeway system has been brought up-to-date by Waitrose; it really is miles better than all the other supermarkets because you end up with all the shopping already bagged. As far as re-scanning is concerned, my last re-scan was about six months ago!
gingejbee - It used to make shopping into a (relatively speaking) fun experience. And, as ummm, says, if the budget was a little tight, there were no embarassments at the till or decisions NOT to buy something because it 'might' tip us over.
I hope that other supermarkets adopt a similar system..........I may just have to look out a Waitrose, for nostalgia's sake :o)
jack has better phone ahead ad see if he's going to a 21st century Waitrose than a 20th century one, then. Our local's got one, but not all supermarkets are equal.
Two of our local Tescos are being refurbished. One's sent me a discount coupon to encourage me to keep going there while they're being worked on. The other one has too - but in this case the coupon is only redeemable in another Tescos that's 10 miles away. I rang them up and pointed out that if all their customers are being redirected to somewhere out Heathrow way, they'll pretty soon be empty. They just coughed and shuffled their feet and blamed the marketing department, as you do.
