And what I think the Geezer means about paying twice (as he tried to explain in words of one syllable at 14:17) is that he pays once via his NI contributions and then again in cash at the chemist. Of course his initial payment via NI unfortunately pays not for his own drugs but for everybody else’s. This is presumably because he is considered too well off, or not...

Many thanks judge, racist totalitarian, anarchists like AP, can not see or refuse to acknowledge the valid argument here.

Perhaps AP you'd like me more if I was an unmemployed scrounger??
Question Author
AP you used your standard, drooling, fascist, fat grebo type stuff.
Ok, New Judge - what I am referring to is R1 Geezer's incessant spamming of this board with intolerant rantings about immigrants and what he describes as "workshy scum" - it all smells to me of the sort of beligerant ravings of supporters of the BNP.
There is a whole load of hypocrisy and dogma in his statements and actions too.
Maybe you're right R1 - all YOUR racism maybe warping my brain (temporarily) ;-)

...there was no direct name calling or insulting in the post you cowardly reported.
I think the most valid argument is the £7 for the £2 drug. I git a prescription from my dentist for some gell. As you state prescription £7 actual cost of gell £3.55p.

Its sometime worth checking.

ok fair enough helen

AP "incessant spamming.... intollerant rantings"...

errr I think AP, perhaps I'll let others decide who measures up to those more accurately.
Good afternoon all.

I can see where Geezer is coming from as it used to rattle me to find that I was often the only one in the queue actually having to pay. I have read on t'internet that about 80% of folk are exempt from paying prescription charges for one reason or another.

I now pay £10.40 per month (direct debit) which covers as many items as I need - much better than the twenty-something quid per month I used to pay before signing up for a pre-payment card.
Again a good subject for debate marred by bile and prejudicial language.

Do you think of any subject Geezer without bringing in a supposed army of immigrants and scroungers and other "scum" who are forever picking your pocket and making you poor?

You seem to do this more than I rememmber in the past

It's a behaviour I don't associate with the most sucessful people - can't remember the last time I heard Ricard Branson giving out about paying for scroungers and unmarried mothers

Has life been dealing you a poor hand recently?

Anyway to the question.

Prescription charges raise less than 500 million a year - small part of the NHS budget really - although they do only cost 10 million to administer so they're a net contributer.

I guess if it were seen to be politically advantageous their abolition might be on the cards - can't see it at the moment though

Maybe part of a future Labour manifesto - I look forward to hearing Geezers cries of outrage when it is

well Jake, Brasnon doesn't have to worry, I'm one of middle Englinad deemed rich enough to pay through the nose but I'm not quite rich enough that I don't notice.

It's a matter of principle generally I have yet to see anyone else pay for a prescription, admittedly I hate queues so I don't hang about in them much but I don't think the 80% mentioned above is a fabrication.

If anyone should get it free it should be those that pay already.
AP. So you didnt start the insults eh? What have I said to you yet you have likened me to a BNP memeber in a derogatory way. You could not be furhter from the truth. I consider these peopel scum too, will you have the same objection to that? Somehow I dont think so.

for you information I eat and travel ergularly with an Imamm I also have several muslim friends and collegues. Oddly I find these people have very similar politcal beliefs to R1 AOG and myself. They belive in hard work, no debt and self sufficiency which leads me to question where you , and Jake , are coming from. Are you yet more of the type of pinko that takes unbrigde on behaf of others.

Apart from that I note you have not contributed a singlel thing to this threat apart from bile and libel. Do you have a problem formulating arguments, you seem to be just liek the knuckle dragging scum you believe me to be and as you obviously hang out with them well ..

At least with Jake we get somethign intelligent, even if I dont always agree, but that is what it is about,

Please stop just filling these posts with hated and produce some sort of argument in the debate. You only show yourself up.
Youngmafbog, I apologise if I've got the the wrong impression about you but I have noticed that many of your posts contain similar terminology that R1Geezer uses and it does seem as though you back up his anti-imigrant stance and sweeping statements about "scroungers" and "workshy scum".
I didn't start the insults - not on this particualr thread, I expressed an opinion about the nature of R1's presentation of the OP, there was no name calling or insult in it.
Geezer, ask your GP to put a double lot on your script then you wouldn't have to pay so often.

Never mind you'll get 'em free soon you'll be 60 next tear.
