I would like to think so but our politicians Never seem to overturn unpopular laws. Before the ant-smoking lobby start, people should be able to have a choice as to where they drink. Vehement anti-smokers can choose non smoking pubs and visa versa.

personally i like the smoking ban, means i dont smell of smoke and i dont have a sore throat after a concert.
however i do feel sorry for the smokers if they are standing outside in the cold.

No theyre not.I posted a few weeks back -overlooked as per- that we had just came back from a weekend in Dusseldorf and I was physically sick when we left the pub as it was the first time in years that I had been in contact with fag reek. -no smoking in the house.I was astonished it affected me so badly but not as surprised as my smoker husband who couldnt bear it and wanted fresh air pronto.Now what does that tell you?

Smokers are inherently selfish that's why the ban was necessary in the first place. All I can say is the Dutch government must have been on whacky Baccy when they dreamed this up.

I can't see us reversing this.

reggae -the pub which my OH sometimes goes into relaxes it at about midnight if no-one objects.Ive been there and theres only a couple of foools reeking it up so it doesnt bother me but when youre in the Turkish Quarter in Dusseldorf it was heavy and very noxious -and it was all legit lol

I think you'll find chrissa that this law is far from unpopular, 80% ish are non smokers, why should they have to suffer for the weak addicts?

aya -no it wouldnt -the smokers I know dont care and i have yet to see- even late on in extreme p!shedness in pubs- anyone firing up.

Surely there isn't a particular "type" of pub that allows smoking ??

I wish they still allowed smoking in the Casino.

Although I don't smoke, I think a smokey atmosphere is quite sexy.

I bet Bond girls never had to stand outside on the pavement to smoke !

The Dutch plan to allow it in small, owner-run, pubs with no other staff. My experience of small pubs is that they're dumps.
