I find it hard to believe and clearly the lady in question was unconsenting ( because she was unaware), but I have to say Squad is right regarding the fact that I really can't ever remember asking a woman point blank if she wanted sex and if it was all okay with her, usually the mood and so on just leads to it and consent is assumed by the fact that she's not either laughing and saying 'You gotta be kidding' or a flat out 'No I don't want to do this'.
I think most men woud be confused at the notion that they need to actually ask the question prior to any foreplay etc.
This is a bit of a unique case and I must say that I think it's all highly unlikely and he probably ought to have had a guilty verdict.
