How On Earth Can This Be Still Legal?

When I read this I was in disbelief, I just couldn't get that some still believe you can change the way someone is born in this day and age, it's just disgusting and inedible.
Just who are these people? Religious fanatics I suppose make up the bulk but if so how do you stop it as much is done in secret and 'voluntary'.

He never came out, and I don't think most people realised he was gay until after his death. It is tragic when people are made to feel that they are somehow disgusting or inferior or abnormal for something that is not particularly unusual, and just the way they were born.

It is usually religious and very often (but not always) American-influenced or financed.
Vile practise that, unsurprisingly, has absolutely zero evidence of working and ruins people's lives. Good on the government for finally outlawing it - might end up being one of the May govt's best achievements.

I have no gay friends so not sure I'm qualified to comment here...I did used to work with a gay guy about 20 years ago though - and I liked him (not in that way, just saying...), but doesn't it just come down to a subtle difference in preferences as opposed to being something wrong with you. Some men who aren't gay might have a thing for masculine women with strong arms and a bit of stubble so does that make them a little bit gay? Either way I think there's a lot of things that go on behind people's bedroom doors that may be disagreeable to a lot of people regardless of whether it's with somebody of the same sex. If sexuality was a genetic trait then wouldn't it have been filtered out now, with gay people (historically) not having children? And would children of 'closet' gay people be more likely to be gay if they carry a genetic trait - maybe they do, I've seen studies on much less interesting subjects!
Have to agree that getting rid of these cures is a great thing though but wonder how it's only being done in 2018.
