Quirky quiz questions
67 Answers
I'm trying desperately to finish a quiz for tomorrow. It's made up of deliberately unusual, quirky and downright trick questions, grouped into pairs by subject. A couple of examples would be:
"In 1972, who released an album entitled "Dark Side of the Moon?"
Medicine Head - the Pink Floyd album of the same name was released in 1973.
"In the Ancient Roman army, how many soldiers were commanded by a centurion?"
80 - the word "centurion" has nothing to do with 100.
I'm presently looking for a pair for this question:
"Who played the title character in the 1981 Bill Forsyth film Gregory's Girl?"
Claire Grogan - although Dee Hepburn played the female lead, her character was never Gregory's girlfriend.
I.e. a film where the title character isn't who most people think it is.
Or, if anyone knows any other quirky quiz questions, I'd be grateful.

Bit of a stretch for a "pair", Mark, but this is one I put in a quiz once........ .....
1 What was introduced in 1969, that resulted in a dramatic decline in the UK suicide rate.
2 What was introduced in 1993 that also reduced the rate considerably .
Just for fun, perhaps you'd like to think about them before I give you the answaers.

True / false questions aren't allowed because, if one team gets it wrong the other team is bound to get it right!
In fact, anything where only two possible answers are possible are not permitted. They're known as "Jack and Jill" questions, e.g.
"In the recent remake of Randall and Hopkirk (Deceased), which one was played by Vic Reeves?"

The pairing Q I had thought of, but rejected was:
How do you connect East Lynne with the Royal Albert Hall?
Mrs Henry Wood wrote "East Lynne", and Sir Henry Wood inaugurated the Promenade Concerts at (now) the RHA.
Alternatively, use the original venue for the Proms, Queen's Hall, until bombed in 1941, as in "What was Hermann Goering's impact on the Proms"?

Here's something more for a pub quiz.
How many rock / pop bands can you list which are named after the surnames their members? E.g. Simon & Garfunkel, Emerson Lake & Palmer, Crosby Stills Nash (& Young). Stock Aitken and Waterman don't count because they were the production team, not the atist, and nor does Peter Paul and Mary because they were named after their first names, not their surnames...
