I'm trying desperately to finish a quiz for tomorrow. It's made up of deliberately unusual, quirky and downright trick questions, grouped into pairs by subject. A couple of examples would be:

"In 1972, who released an album entitled "Dark Side of the Moon?"
Medicine Head - the Pink Floyd album of the same name was released in 1973.

"In the Ancient Roman army, how many soldiers were commanded by a centurion?"
80 - the word "centurion" has nothing to do with 100.

I'm presently looking for a pair for this question:
"Who played the title character in the 1981 Bill Forsyth film Gregory's Girl?"
Claire Grogan - although Dee Hepburn played the female lead, her character was never Gregory's girlfriend.

I.e. a film where the title character isn't who most people think it is.

Or, if anyone knows any other quirky quiz questions, I'd be grateful.

Bit of a stretch for a "pair", Mark, but this is one I put in a quiz once.............

1 What was introduced in 1969, that resulted in a dramatic decline in the UK suicide rate.

2 What was introduced in 1993 that also reduced the rate considerably.

Just for fun, perhaps you'd like to think about them before I give you the answaers.

Ashton, Gardner & Dyke
Van Halen ?
Springfields?
Bachman Turner Overdrive
Question Author
OK, my fault for not explaining sufficiently - it has to be the individual surnames of the band members, so The Corrs and The Carpenters don't count, though they would if they'd called themselves Corr, Corr, Corr and Corr or Carpenter and Carpenter.

McAlmont and Butler is correct but The Osmonds isn't...
Question Author
Again, Van Halen doesn't count nor does The Springfields.

Bachmann Turner Overdrive would have counted it the bass player had been called Fred Overdrive...
Ashton, Gardner and Dyke
Hall and Oates
Wilson Phillips
Buckingham Nicks
I am not playing now, you keep moving the goalposts.
Otway & Barrett ?
Question Author
Sorry, Lynne - my fault for not explaining clearly.

Otway & Barrett? Were they ever actually known as anything other than John Otway & Wild Willy Barrett?
Fame and Price
Gallagher and Lyle?
Question Author
Gallagher & Lyle is correct. Not sure about Fame and Price - were they ever billed as anything other than Georgie Fame and Alan Price?
Fame and Price Together: Rosetta
Womack and Womack
Zager and Evans?
Anderson, Bruford, Wakeman, Howe.
Question Author
That's the stuff, Douglas! Zager and Evans too.
McFadden and Whitehead
Question Author
You're solid as a rock, Douglas... ;-)
