knitting again after a gap of about 15 years. i am making two very sweet baby jumpers for two of my colleagues at work who are expecting. i had forgotten how nice it was and just sitting there watching rubbish on the tv and making something.
what do you abers do as a hobby? i'm very interested to know what you spend your spare time doing. i also like ebay (started about a month ago - and the money is nice!) and reading crime/thriller/fiction novels. tell me and everyone else what you get up to (keep it sensible!) x
I can knit too and crochet. My problem is I can't knit or crochet anything other a long scarf (knit) and blanket (crochet). I haven't learn't the technical art of making jumpers!
I learnt to knit when I was at junior school. I then learnt to sew. I like to get things finished quick, so sewing is my main hobby in that respect.
I love walking, running and I play volleyball. I don't read as much as I should to keep my brain active!
You have to find things to do to keep body and brain active, otherwise it gets so boring. "Life gets tedious don't it". I do jigsaw puzzles (complete waste of time but addictive) I read mainly detective stories especially those based in the past before CSI. I watch television - rubbishy stuff like Murder She Wrote and others of that type. NCIS is good and there are some nice looking men to look at (I may be old but I'm not dead). I can also knit and crochet although this is limited as I have swamped the market with baby clothes. I have knitted for the fish and chip babies and just last week got talking to a lady in the Zumba class who is going to bring me some patterns to knit for a charitable institution she belongs to and this will be for Africa - same as the fish and chip babies. There's lots to do and little time to do it.
wow! i didn't know you were all such a talented bunch! good evening to you too, excelsior and dt.....your drawings are absolutely beautiful. so fine and delicate in the detail. i forgot to say i also do crosswords on a sunday and have tried jewellery making, but there is only so many i can make and give away! i have a couple of items on ebay at the moment and should make a tidy profit (hopefully!) x
I usually do prize crosswords on Sundays, (and any others I come across), go to genealogy meetings with U3A, AB of course and I'm also going to restart a book I was writing when it was interrupted by the summer break.
Quizzes are good. (See Quizzes and puzzles) The trouble with making things is finding someone to give them to - more difficult than you might think. Babies don't seem to wear little cardigans - they live in babygros or whatever they are called. I often feel I have wasted my time knitting things. I never see them used and fancy they end up in the charity shop.
I have an 85 year old neighbour who cannot get about much. She knits babys' cardigans and Christmas stockings and doesn't ask anything for herself but just donations to our local hospice. She's doing very well too.
