What was the name of this quiz show

It was a quiz show that was on in the 80's and from what I can remember the concept was that a bunch of aliens had been stranded on Earth and taking human form (except 'Uncle' who insisted on being a potted plant and shook to communicate) got contestants through challenges until finally they had to cross this 'minefield' floor where if they stepped on the wrong squares they were evaporated.

I'm sure it wasn't just a very bad batch of hash that I was on at the time but for the life of me I can't find anyone who remebers such a show.

It was actually the other way round - the players were stranded on the alien planet, Arg, and had to win games to get their passage whome. If they failed, they had to walk home... and it was a very long way!
