MM and KM Links June 2008 [Week 3]
76 Answers
Good Evening Linkers both MM and KM and "Bon Voyage Crofter" who is away to Tenefiffe for a well-earned break. This is gen2 standing in as overseer and scorer.
It is now mid-month, and for both games it is too soon to predict any winners as there are simply loads of points still on offer. May I remind you that the bonus points are time sensitive and to stand the best chance of picking one up, you need to set your alarm and get in early. The MM game is launched at 8:45 tomorrow morning and the words will appear at 9:00. The KM game (based on the Telegraph GK Crosswords) starts even earlier as soon as someone gets the paper and solves the clues, so be on the lookout out from 6:30 onwards for that one - look for a thread started by seekeerz.
This is week 3 (of 5) in the reign of the Dinky Duke who is all set to puzzle you once again with four more carefully selected words for you to guess the four corresponding linkwords he has chosen. Are you on his wavelength yet?
As most of you are aware, this thread forms the entrance to the 'Shrubbery' in much the same way as a wardrobe allows access to Narnia. Like Narnia it has its good and bad characters but I'll leave you to determine who is which (the witch?).
Just let me pass on a warning issued by Strix earlier in the week . . .
"Lasciate ogne speranza, voi ch'intrate"
Is it really Hell in there?
PS - If you are hopeless already, then you have nothing to lose - come on in.

Last week Pauline was trying to teach me how to make pics. smaller and I got some of the wording a bit wrong so it took ages for us to concentrate on what we were doing.
Seriously it's everyone on this site who has helped me come out of my shell and cope with the last 20 months.

Sorry, only just back from cooking and eating supper.
So to go back a few steps to Pauline's question of what would I have for a last meal:
Bollinger R.D. or Grande Dame with
sauteed Foie Gras
Tournedos Rossini with Gratin Dauphinois + veg
accompanied by a decent claret such as Ch Petrus or Haut-Brion or Ducru-Beaucaillou
then some sorbet (lemon)
then dessert cakes with Muscat Beaumes de Venise
then a savoury (like Oxford Savoury) plus stilton
and, of course, Vintage (pre-phylloxeran) port
Yum
Only joking, of course

Strix I am very limited as to what I can eat but it would be very boring.
Chicken, roast pots, green beans, carrots, sugar snap peas.
Fresh raspberry Palova. (that's one of the few sweets I can have)
Bottle of the wine we had when Pauline came but forgotten its name again!!!!!!!
More music Strix please

You've all gone frightfully (deliberate choice of adjective) quiet.

Saw that Jan...
Well let's face it...years ago they couldn't afford to throw it away..some now can't....or buy so much in one go!
I remember us having a larder...and cool items were stored in there...tins elsewhere, but never loads of them!!
We wasted nothing!
I am ashamed of what people throw out these days...must admit, we don't often throw out food, if I can't use it or need it....I won't buy it.
My sister in law throws loads out...I get apalled by it. If we go for a buffet ...as I help to clear away, I ask for the Cling Wrap...and ahe always says..oh I just throw away what I haven't used...I hate doing it! It is not what my Brother has been used to!

Oh Pauline , I don't know why but I have always hated Regs choice of music. I really haven't got a clue but have just never liked it. SOOO sorry Reg it's nothing personal, honestly. Please don't make me sleep in the cellar when I visit.
