MM and KM Links June 2008 [Week 3]
76 Answers
Good Evening Linkers both MM and KM and "Bon Voyage Crofter" who is away to Tenefiffe for a well-earned break. This is gen2 standing in as overseer and scorer.
It is now mid-month, and for both games it is too soon to predict any winners as there are simply loads of points still on offer. May I remind you that the bonus points are time sensitive and to stand the best chance of picking one up, you need to set your alarm and get in early. The MM game is launched at 8:45 tomorrow morning and the words will appear at 9:00. The KM game (based on the Telegraph GK Crosswords) starts even earlier as soon as someone gets the paper and solves the clues, so be on the lookout out from 6:30 onwards for that one - look for a thread started by seekeerz.
This is week 3 (of 5) in the reign of the Dinky Duke who is all set to puzzle you once again with four more carefully selected words for you to guess the four corresponding linkwords he has chosen. Are you on his wavelength yet?
As most of you are aware, this thread forms the entrance to the 'Shrubbery' in much the same way as a wardrobe allows access to Narnia. Like Narnia it has its good and bad characters but I'll leave you to determine who is which (the witch?).
Just let me pass on a warning issued by Strix earlier in the week . . .
"Lasciate ogne speranza, voi ch'intrate"
Is it really Hell in there?
PS - If you are hopeless already, then you have nothing to lose - come on in.

Sorry, Kay, the link that didn't work was an appalling exhibition of American "consumerism":

Now, Kay, this is one of those songs that you either adore or hate.
I was never originally an Abba fan but as time has passed I move into my adolescence (!) I realise the prejudices of the past were wrong.
Sorry to be soppy about this next choice but any friend, animal or human, who is particularly dear to us dies I play this:

Pauline tell Reg I approve of the Bee Gees and Strix what can I say, I have never heard that before and I think it's beautiful. I do like a lot of Abba songs, and am amazed i haven't heard that before.
Just to say next week don't know if I will be around because the next night is our local hospice Solstice walk (10 miles starting at 10pm) and I am helping as i did last year. i have to be there at 7pm and last year I left about 4am.
My daughter is doing the walk but as I am doing the Race for Life cancer research run i didn't think it was fair to ask for 2 lots of sponsor money. Also they do need the helpers.Last year I was selling helium balloons and tags for people to write their messages to loved ones and at the begining of the walk these were all released. A very emotional moment. Sorry didn't mean to get serious, it was the Abba song.

Kay, Pauline,
Sorry didn't mean to get everyone "greetin'" as they say in Scotland but it, Abba's song, is one that not many people know but is, quite quite, wonderful - and, curiously, because it is so little known.
Now, at some point soon, if I am not wrong Dustybun will be joining the fray so:

And, as I am soon off to bed, I give you this which is, without being overly serious, a very appropriate song for nowadays.
